Which companies in Oregon sponsor visas for tax accountants?
Portland-based employers are the primary source of tax accountant sponsorships in Oregon. Large corporations with established international hiring programs, including Nike and Intel, have sponsored workers for tax and accounting roles. Regional public accounting firms in the Big Four and mid-tier categories also file H-1B petitions for tax accountants, particularly for roles requiring specialized knowledge in corporate tax, international tax, or state and local tax compliance.
Which visa types are most common for tax accountant roles in Oregon?
The H-1B is the most common visa for tax accountants in Oregon, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. TN visas are available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in accounting roles under the USMCA. Candidates with exceptional credentials may explore the O-1, and those on F-1 OPT can work in tax roles while seeking H-1B sponsorship.
Which cities in Oregon have the most tax accountant sponsorship jobs?
Portland accounts for the large majority of tax accountant sponsorship activity in Oregon, driven by its concentration of corporate headquarters, regional offices of national firms, and Big Four presence. Eugene has a smaller but active professional services market tied to the University of Oregon and surrounding businesses. Bend is a growing market with increasing demand from professional services firms serving its expanding business community.
How to find tax accountant visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to identify Oregon employers actively hiring tax accountants who need sponsorship support. Because sponsorship status is not always disclosed on general job postings, using Migrate Mate to filter by role and state saves significant time. Focus your search on Portland-area employers in public accounting, corporate tax departments, and financial services for the highest concentration of opportunities.
Are there state-specific considerations for tax accountants seeking sponsorship in Oregon?
Oregon requires CPA licensure for public accounting work, and international candidates should verify whether their home-country credentials qualify for reciprocity or require additional examination. Oregon has no sales tax, which shapes local tax practice toward income tax, property tax, and multi-state compliance work. Employers sponsoring tax accountants must meet H-1B prevailing wage requirements set by the Department of Labor, which reflect Portland's professional services market rates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored tax accountant jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
