Which companies sponsor visas for tax accountants in South Carolina?
The Big Four accounting firms, including Deloitte, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst and Young, and KPMG, have offices in Columbia and Greenville and historically sponsor H-1B visas for qualified tax accountants. Large financial institutions, regional CPA firms, and multinational manufacturers with U.S. operations in the Upstate region also appear in Department of Labor LCA disclosure data as sponsors for tax accounting roles.
Which visa types are most common for tax accountant roles in South Carolina?
The H-1B is the most common work visa for tax accountants in South Carolina, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field. Candidates with a CPA credential or a master's degree in taxation can strengthen a specialty occupation argument. TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals working in accounting roles under USMCA.
Which cities in South Carolina have the most tax accountant sponsorship jobs?
Columbia, as the state capital and home to the University of South Carolina's business school, has the highest concentration of accounting firms and state agencies hiring tax accountants. Greenville and Spartanburg in the Upstate region attract international manufacturing companies with tax and finance functions. Charleston is a growing market with financial services and real estate firms that periodically sponsor tax professionals.
How to find tax accountant visa sponsorship jobs in South Carolina?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse tax accountant roles in South Carolina without sifting through positions that don't support international candidates. You can filter by location and role type to surface active openings from employers who have a track record of sponsoring work visas for accounting professionals in the state.
Are there state-specific considerations for tax accountants seeking sponsorship in South Carolina?
South Carolina's growing presence of international automotive and advanced manufacturing firms, including BMW's U.S. headquarters in Spartanburg, creates demand for tax accountants familiar with international tax compliance and transfer pricing. Employers filing H-1B petitions must pay prevailing wages as determined by the Department of Labor for the specific occupation and geographic area, so wage levels in Greenville may differ from those in Columbia or Charleston.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored tax accountant jobs in South Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
