Which companies sponsor visas for tax accountants in Utah?
The Big Four accounting firms, Deloitte, KPMG, PwC, and EY, have Salt Lake City offices and established visa sponsorship programs for tax accountants. Regional firms like Haynie & Company and CBIZ also hire in Utah. Corporate tax departments at Utah-headquartered companies such as Zions Bancorporation and Intermountain Healthcare are additional sponsorship sources worth targeting.
Which visa types are most common for tax accountant roles in Utah?
The H-1B is the most common visa for tax accountants in Utah, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals under the USMCA treaty. Australian citizens may qualify for the E-3 visa. O-1 visas are rare but possible for exceptionally distinguished tax professionals.
Which cities in Utah have the most tax accountant sponsorship jobs?
Salt Lake City accounts for the large majority of tax accountant sponsorship opportunities in Utah, driven by its concentration of Big Four offices, financial services firms, and corporate headquarters. Provo and the broader Utah Valley corridor are secondary markets, supported by proximity to Brigham Young University and a growing technology sector that generates corporate tax work. Ogden has a smaller but present accounting job market.
How to find tax accountant visa sponsorship jobs in Utah?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates and filters tax accountant roles in Utah by visa sponsorship availability, saving you the effort of manually screening hundreds of job postings. Beyond browsing Migrate Mate, targeting Big Four and regional CPA firm recruiting cycles in Salt Lake City directly, and connecting with BYU or University of Utah accounting programs, can surface sponsorship-eligible openings before they are widely advertised.
Are there state-specific considerations for tax accountants seeking sponsorship in Utah?
Utah requires CPA licensure for certain accounting roles, which can affect how employers classify positions for H-1B specialty occupation purposes. Employers must pay at least the Department of Labor prevailing wage for the specific role and location, which is determined at the county or metropolitan statistical area level for Salt Lake City separately from smaller Utah markets. Utah's strong LDS community creates unique multinational business ties, particularly with Pacific Rim and Latin American markets, which can favor internationally experienced tax candidates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored tax accountant jobs in Utah?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
