Which companies sponsor visas for accountants in Oklahoma?
Energy firms are the most active sponsors, with companies like Devon Energy, Chesapeake Energy, and ONEOK filing H-1B petitions for accounting and finance roles. Large healthcare networks such as INTEGRIS Health and SSM Health also sponsor accountants, as do regional financial institutions and national accounting firms with Oklahoma offices, including Deloitte and KPMG.
Which visa types are most common for accountant roles in Oklahoma?
The H-1B is the most common visa for accountants in Oklahoma, since accounting qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Candidates from Australia may pursue the E-3 visa instead. Those already in the U.S. on F-1 OPT can work for a sponsoring employer while the H-1B petition is filed.
Which cities in Oklahoma have the most accountant sponsorship jobs?
Oklahoma City is the primary hub, driven by its concentration of energy companies, healthcare systems, and state government agencies that hire staff accountants, auditors, and financial analysts. Tulsa is the second-largest market, with a strong presence of manufacturing firms, energy companies, and professional services firms that regularly sponsor accounting professionals.
How to find accountant visa sponsorship jobs in Oklahoma?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and lets you filter accountant roles in Oklahoma by visa sponsorship eligibility. Because sponsoring employers are not always obvious from a standard job listing, Migrate Mate surfaces companies with a documented history of filing H-1B and other work visa petitions for accounting positions across Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and beyond.
Are there any state-specific considerations for accountants seeking sponsorship in Oklahoma?
Oklahoma's economy is heavily weighted toward energy, so accountants with oil and gas accounting experience or familiarity with SEC reporting for extractive industries are well-positioned. The University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University produce accounting graduates who sometimes transition into sponsored roles, meaning employers in those markets already have established HR processes for work visa filings.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored accountant jobs in Oklahoma?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
