Which companies sponsor visas for accountants in Hawaii?
Hawaii's most active visa sponsors for accountants include Bank of Hawaii, First Hawaiian Bank, AlohaCare, the University of Hawaii system, and large hotel management companies operating across Oahu, Maui, and the Big Island. National accounting firms with Hawaii offices, including Deloitte and KPMG, have also filed H-1B petitions for accounting roles in the state. Federal agencies based in Honolulu occasionally sponsor positions as well.
Which visa types are most common for accountant roles in Hawaii?
The H-1B visa is the most common pathway for accountants in Hawaii, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. CPA licensure strengthens a petition considerably. Some accountants at multinational firms transfer via the L-1B or L-1A visa. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify under the TN visa, which lists accountants as an eligible profession.
How to find accountant visa sponsorship jobs in Hawaii?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find accountant roles in Hawaii where employers are open to visa sponsorship. Rather than filtering through general job boards, Migrate Mate focuses specifically on international candidates and surfaces positions from Hawaii employers, including those in finance, hospitality, and the public sector, that have a documented history of sponsoring H-1B and other work visas for accounting professionals.
Which cities in Hawaii have the most accountant sponsorship jobs?
Honolulu accounts for the overwhelming majority of accountant sponsorship opportunities in Hawaii. As the state's financial and commercial center, it hosts the headquarters of major banks, the largest hotels, state and federal agencies, and the Big Four accounting firm offices that serve the Pacific region. Smaller opportunities exist on Maui, particularly within resort management companies, but Honolulu is where most sponsored accounting positions are concentrated.
Are there any Hawaii-specific considerations for accountants seeking visa sponsorship?
Hawaii's high cost of living influences the prevailing wage determinations employers must certify on the Labor Condition Application, which is a required step in the H-1B process. The state's economy is heavily tied to tourism and the military, so accountants with hospitality industry experience or government contracting knowledge are particularly competitive. The University of Hawaii at Manoa produces local accounting graduates, so sponsored candidates typically need qualifications or specializations that address specific gaps.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored accountant jobs in Hawaii?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
