Which companies sponsor visas for accountants in Massachusetts?
The Big Four accounting firms (Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG) have significant Massachusetts presences and a documented history of sponsoring H-1B visas for accounting professionals. Beyond public accounting, large employers in Boston's financial services sector, major hospital systems like Mass General Brigham, and biotech companies such as Biogen and Moderna have also sponsored accountants and finance staff.
Which visa types are most common for accountant roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B is the most commonly used visa for accountants in Massachusetts, as accounting roles with a required bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field typically qualify as specialty occupations. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for the TN visa under the NAFTA/USMCA accountant category, which does not require lottery selection and is often faster to obtain.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most accountant sponsorship jobs?
Boston concentrates the largest share of accountant sponsorship jobs in the state, driven by its financial district, corporate headquarters, and major accounting firm offices. Cambridge adds demand from research institutions and biotech companies, while Waltham and Burlington, both along Route 128, host corporate finance teams that periodically sponsor accounting roles.
How to find accountant visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify Massachusetts accountant roles where employers are open to sponsoring. Rather than sorting through general job postings, you can search directly for accountant openings in Massachusetts on Migrate Mate, which is designed for international candidates navigating U.S. work visa requirements.
Are there any Massachusetts-specific considerations for accountants seeking visa sponsorship?
Massachusetts employers sponsoring H-1B accountants must pay the Department of Labor prevailing wage for the relevant occupation and work location, which reflects Boston's high cost of living and is typically above national averages for equivalent roles. CPA licensure is governed by the Massachusetts Board of Public Accountancy, and international candidates should verify how their foreign credentials are evaluated, as this can affect both hiring decisions and visa petition documentation.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored accountant jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
