Which companies sponsor visas for accountants in Washington?
Microsoft, Amazon, Boeing, and Expedia are among the largest visa sponsors for accounting roles in Washington, based on Department of Labor LCA disclosure data. Regional employers including Starbucks, Nordstrom, and major healthcare systems such as Providence and MultiCare also have established sponsorship track records. National accounting firms with Seattle offices, including Deloitte, KPMG, PwC, and EY, regularly sponsor H-1B petitions for audit and tax professionals.
Which visa types are most common for accountant roles in Washington?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for accountants in Washington, as accounting roles requiring a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field generally meet the specialty occupation standard. CPAs and senior tax professionals sometimes qualify for the O-1A if they have demonstrated exceptional achievement. Accountants from Canada and Mexico may also pursue TN visa status under the USMCA, which lists accountants as an eligible occupation and does not require a cap lottery.
Which cities in Washington have the most accountant sponsorship jobs?
Seattle and its surrounding metro, including Bellevue, Redmond, and Kirkland, account for the overwhelming majority of accountant visa sponsorship opportunities in Washington. The Eastside tech corridor alone, anchored by Microsoft's Redmond campus and Amazon's Bellevue expansion, generates significant demand for financial reporting and tax compliance professionals. Spokane and Tacoma have smaller but active markets, particularly tied to healthcare systems and regional government contractors.
How to find accountant visa sponsorship jobs in Washington?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to identify Washington employers actively hiring accountants who need work authorization. Search by role and state to surface positions at tech companies, accounting firms, and multinationals across the Seattle metro and Eastside. Filtering by sponsorship type, such as H-1B or TN, helps narrow results to employers whose hiring patterns align with your visa situation.
Are there state-specific considerations for accountants seeking sponsorship in Washington?
Washington has no state income tax, which makes it a competitive location for employers recruiting internationally and simplifies payroll compliance for sponsored workers. Employers must still meet the Department of Labor's prevailing wage requirements for the specific accounting role and geographic area when filing an LCA. Washington's large concentration of Big Tech firms means many accounting roles are embedded in fast-moving finance teams, and CPA licensure, while not required for H-1B sponsorship, is commonly preferred by employers in the region.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored accountant jobs in Washington?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
