Which companies sponsor visas for accountants in Wisconsin?
Milwaukee-based employers including Fiserv, Northwestern Mutual, and Advocate Aurora Health have filed H-1B Labor Condition Applications for accounting roles. Major accounting firms such as Deloitte and KPMG, which have Wisconsin offices, also sponsor accountants. Public universities like the University of Wisconsin-Madison and large healthcare networks are among the more consistent sponsors for finance and accounting positions in the state.
Which visa types are most common for accountant roles in Wisconsin?
The H-1B visa is the most common pathway for international accountants in Wisconsin, as accounting roles with a bachelor's degree requirement in accounting, finance, or a related field generally qualify as specialty occupations. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for the TN visa under the NAFTA/USMCA category for accountants, which does not require a lottery and can be processed more quickly.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most accountant sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee is Wisconsin's primary hub for accounting sponsorship activity, driven by its financial services sector, corporate headquarters, and regional offices of national accounting firms. Madison follows closely, supported by the University of Wisconsin system, state government contractors, and a growing technology sector. Green Bay and Appleton see accounting sponsorship primarily through manufacturing and healthcare employers in the Fox Valley region.
How to find accountant visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters accounting roles in Wisconsin by visa sponsorship history. Rather than sorting through thousands of unfiltered postings, you can browse accountant positions from employers who have a documented track record of H-1B or TN visa sponsorship. Migrate Mate also surfaces roles across Milwaukee, Madison, and other Wisconsin markets in one searchable feed.
Are there any Wisconsin-specific considerations for accountants seeking visa sponsorship?
Wisconsin's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B accountants are determined by the Department of Labor based on the specific metro area, so Milwaukee and Madison positions typically have different wage thresholds than smaller markets. The state's strong CPA licensure standards also mean employers often prefer candidates who are CPA-eligible or already licensed, which can affect how a sponsoring employer structures the job requirements on the LCA filing.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored accountant jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
