Which companies sponsor visas for accountants in Pennsylvania?
Large Pennsylvania employers with established visa sponsorship programs for accountants include PNC Financial Services, Comcast, Lincoln Financial Group, and major public accounting firms such as Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG, which maintain offices in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. Healthcare systems like UPMC and Penn Medicine also sponsor accounting and finance roles. Multinational manufacturers and life sciences companies based in the Philadelphia suburbs are additional sources of sponsorship.
Which visa types are most common for accountant roles in Pennsylvania?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for accountants in Pennsylvania, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. CPA licensure strengthens the specialty occupation argument. Candidates from Australia may pursue the E-3, Canadians and Mexicans the TN visa under USMCA. Intracompany transferees at global accounting firms may qualify for L-1 classification.
Which cities in Pennsylvania have the most accountant sponsorship jobs?
Philadelphia generates the highest volume of sponsored accountant positions in Pennsylvania, driven by its concentration of financial services firms, healthcare systems, law firms, and the Big Four accounting offices along Market Street. Pittsburgh is the second-largest market, anchored by PNC Financial, BNY Mellon's regional operations, and a growing technology sector. Harrisburg and King of Prussia also produce accountant openings, particularly within state government contractors and pharmaceutical companies.
How to find accountant visa sponsorship jobs in Pennsylvania?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find accountant roles in Pennsylvania where employers are open to visa sponsorship. The platform filters specifically for sponsorship-eligible positions, saving you from sifting through listings at companies that won't support an H-1B or other work visa petition. Focusing your search on Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, and targeting employers in financial services, healthcare, and public accounting, tends to yield the strongest results for international candidates.
Are there state-specific considerations for international accountants pursuing sponsorship in Pennsylvania?
Pennsylvania requires CPA licensees to hold a degree meeting specific credit-hour thresholds, which can affect international candidates whose credentials need evaluation. A foreign credential evaluation from a NASBA-recognized agency is typically required before sitting for the CPA exam in the state. For H-1B petitions, employers must file a Labor Condition Application reflecting the prevailing wage for the specific metropolitan area, which differs between Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and smaller Pennsylvania markets.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored accountant jobs in Pennsylvania?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
