Which companies sponsor visas for accountants in New Jersey?
Large multinationals with significant New Jersey operations are among the most active sponsors for accountant roles. Companies like Prudential Financial, Johnson & Johnson, Cognizant, and Merck have consistent histories of H-1B visa sponsorship for accounting and finance positions. Major public accounting firms with New Jersey offices, including the Big Four, also sponsor international candidates for audit and tax roles.
Which visa types are most common for accountant roles in New Jersey?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for accountants in New Jersey, as accounting qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for the TN visa under the USMCA. Those with extraordinary achievement in the field may explore the O-1 visa, though it requires substantial documented recognition.
Which cities in New Jersey have the most accountant sponsorship jobs?
Newark and Jersey City lead in accountant sponsorship activity, largely due to their proximity to New York City's financial sector and the presence of major corporate headquarters. Parsippany, Florham Park, and the Route 1 corridor between New Brunswick and Princeton are also active, driven by pharmaceutical companies and large professional services firms with regional finance and accounting teams.
How to find accountant visa sponsorship jobs in New Jersey?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship roles, including accountant positions in New Jersey. You can filter by state and job category to surface employers with active sponsorship histories. Because not all postings make sponsorship availability clear, using a platform focused on international hiring saves significant time compared to sifting through general job listings.
Are there any New Jersey-specific considerations for accountants seeking visa sponsorship?
New Jersey employers sponsoring H-1B workers must pay the prevailing wage as determined by the Department of Labor for the specific accounting role and geographic area. New Jersey's proximity to New York City means prevailing wages can be high, reflecting regional market rates. CPA licensure requirements also vary by state, so international candidates should verify New Jersey's Board of Accountancy requirements for their intended role level.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored accountant jobs in New Jersey?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
