Which companies sponsor visas for accountants in South Carolina?
Manufacturing multinationals with major South Carolina operations, including BMW Manufacturing in Spartanburg and Michelin North America in Greenville, have sponsored accountants through H-1B petitions. Large accounting firms with Upstate and Lowcountry offices, such as Deloitte, PwC, and regional mid-market firms, also appear in Department of Labor disclosure data as sponsors for accounting roles in the state.
Which visa types are most common for accountant roles in South Carolina?
The H-1B is the most commonly used visa for accountants in South Carolina because the role consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may pursue the TN visa under the USMCA, which lists accountants as a qualifying profession and does not require advance USCIS approval.
Which cities in South Carolina have the most accountant sponsorship jobs?
Greenville and Spartanburg in the Upstate region generate the highest concentration of accountant sponsorship activity, driven by the area's dense manufacturing and international business base. Columbia, as the state capital and home to several large employers and state agencies, is a secondary hub. Charleston has seen increasing demand as financial services and tech-adjacent firms have expanded into the Lowcountry over recent years.
How to find accountant visa sponsorship jobs in South Carolina?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship, so you can search for accountant roles in South Carolina without sorting through positions that won't consider international candidates. The platform aggregates openings from employers across the Upstate manufacturing corridor, Columbia, and Charleston, making it practical to identify which accounting roles are actively open to H-1B or TN applicants in the state.
Are there state-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for accountants in South Carolina?
South Carolina's heavy foreign direct investment, particularly from German and French manufacturers in the Upstate, means a meaningful share of accounting sponsors are multinational companies with established immigration programs. Clemson University and the University of South Carolina also produce accounting graduates who enter OPT, creating a local pipeline that some employers draw from before extending full H-1B sponsorship. Prevailing wage compliance under the Labor Condition Application process applies statewide, as it does everywhere in the U.S.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored accountant jobs in South Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
