Which companies sponsor visas for accountants in Utah?
Large employers with established visa sponsorship programs for accountants in Utah include Goldman Sachs, which operates a significant Salt Lake City office, along with Workday, Overstock, and major public accounting firms such as Deloitte, PwC, and KPMG. Healthcare systems like Intermountain Health also hire sponsored accountants. These organizations have existing immigration infrastructure and file H-1B visa petitions for qualifying accounting roles on a recurring basis.
Which visa types are most common for accountant roles in Utah?
The H-1B is the most common visa for accountants in Utah, as accounting qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting or a closely related field. Candidates from Australia may pursue the E-3 visa, and Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify under the TN visa category, which specifically lists accountants as an eligible profession. Those with extraordinary professional recognition may also explore the O-1 visa.
Which cities in Utah have the most accountant sponsorship jobs?
Salt Lake City concentrates the largest share of sponsored accountant positions, hosting corporate headquarters, major financial services offices, and all four Big Four accounting firms. The Silicon Slopes corridor stretching through Lehi and Provo is a secondary hub, driven by high-growth tech companies that maintain in-house finance and accounting teams. Ogden also sees demand, particularly through federal government contractors and manufacturing sector employers.
How to find accountant visa sponsorship jobs in Utah?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship, making it a focused starting point for accountants targeting Utah employers. You can filter by role and state to surface positions where employers have a documented history of sponsoring work visas. Because not all accounting job postings explicitly mention sponsorship, using a platform like Migrate Mate that screens for sponsorship-willing employers saves significant time in the search process.
Are there any state-specific considerations for accountants pursuing visa sponsorship in Utah?
Utah's CPA licensure requirements apply regardless of immigration status, so international accountants planning to sit for the CPA exam should verify credit hour and education equivalency rules with the Utah Division of Professional Licensing. The state's rapidly expanding tech sector along Silicon Slopes has increased demand for accountants with experience in SaaS revenue recognition and equity compensation, making those specializations particularly competitive for sponsored candidates. University of Utah and Brigham Young University also supply a strong local accounting pipeline, so sponsored candidates benefit from differentiating through specialized credentials or industry-specific experience.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored accountant jobs in Utah?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
