Which companies sponsor visas for senior AI software engineers in Oregon?
Intel is Oregon's largest technology employer and a consistent H-1B sponsor, particularly at its Hillsboro campus. Portland-area companies including Daimler Trucks North America, Nike's technology division, and a growing number of AI-focused startups have also filed LCA records for senior software engineering roles. Larger employers with established HR and legal infrastructure tend to have more structured sponsorship processes than early-stage startups.
Which visa types are most common for senior AI software engineer roles in Oregon?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for senior AI software engineers in Oregon, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, AI, or a related field. Candidates with exceptional recognition in AI research may qualify for the O-1A. Applicants already in the U.S. on F-1 OPT, including STEM OPT extensions, often transition to employer-sponsored H-1B status.
Which cities in Oregon have the most senior AI software engineer sponsorship jobs?
Portland and the surrounding metro area, including Hillsboro and Beaverton, account for the large majority of senior AI software engineer sponsorship activity in Oregon. Intel's Hillsboro campus alone drives significant H-1B filing volume. Eugene has a smaller but active tech presence connected to the University of Oregon. Outside the Portland metro, sponsorship opportunities are considerably more limited.
How to find senior ai software engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates and filters job listings by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search senior AI software engineer roles in Oregon without sorting through positions that won't support a work visa. The platform aggregates employer-verified sponsorship signals relevant to this role category, saving significant time compared to reviewing individual company career pages for H-1B or O-1 eligibility.
Are there state-specific considerations for senior AI software engineers seeking sponsorship in Oregon?
Oregon does not have state-level visa programs, so all sponsorship follows federal H-1B and O-1 processes. However, Oregon's concentration of semiconductor and hardware AI development, centered around Intel's Hillsboro operations, means many senior AI roles intersect with hardware-software integration work. The University of Oregon and Oregon State University supply graduate talent pipelines that some employers draw from, and candidates from those programs sometimes begin the H-1B process through OPT.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored senior ai software engineer jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
