Role Summary
As a Sr. AI Software Engineer on the Global Marketing and Digital Enablement team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, modifying, and implementing innovative solutions to address both immediate and long-term information technology needs. This includes working with new and existing applications, systems, databases, and infrastructure.
You will play a key role in creating and deploying autonomous AI systems, partnering with cross-functional squads, supporting the Build-Operate-Transfer process, and helping scale responsible AI solutions across the organization.
Your responsibilities will include reviewing and interpreting system requirements, analyzing business processes, and coding, testing, debugging, and implementing robust software solutions.
This role is well suited for engineers with strong software fundamentals passionate about solving complex problems, building reliable systems, collaborating across disciplines, and contributing to the standards and practices that shape the next generation of software engineering at T. Rowe Price.
Responsibilities
- Lead projects or work streams, providing guidance and expertise to your team.
- Take ownership of your work and, at times, oversee the work of others, offering advice on processes and standards within your area of specialization.
- Work independently, serving as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
- Design, build, test, and deploy AI agents and intelligent systems for modern, cloud-based, n-tier architectures.
- Partner with business stakeholders to develop agent-driven workflows that automate complex processes and deliver actionable insights.
- Promote engineering excellence by applying best practices in AI development, continuous integration, and code quality.
- Contribute to projects focused on agent orchestration, prompt engineering, and real-time, data-driven automation.
- Manage technical debt and drive ongoing improvements in AI platforms and infrastructure.
- Proactively identify opportunities to leverage AI agents for increased business value and operational efficiency.
- Serve as a domain expert throughout the software lifecycle (coding, testing, deployment), leading significant components of development projects.
- Help develop and promote standard methodologies within your group.
- Lead code reviews and actively provide feedback on designs and code.
- Take responsibility for technical debt in your own work.
- Lead small project teams as needed.
- Tackle complex problems systematically and make tactical versus strategic trade-offs.
- Adapt solutions as new information or ideas emerge.
- Mentor junior team members, providing support and building their confidence.
- Support colleagues with suggestions to improve practices and processes.

- Collaborate closely with business stakeholders and product owners to understand priorities, shape solution direction, and deliver practical outcomes.

Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building applications in an object-oriented language such as Java, Python, or JavaScript.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-native architectures, containerized microservices, and modern software delivery practices.
- Hands-on experience designing, developing, and deploying AI/ML-enabled software solutions in a production environment.
- Proficiency with Python and common AI/ML frameworks and libraries.
- Experience integrating AI capabilities, APIs, or models into enterprise applications.
- Understanding of software engineering best practices, including testing, scalability, security, and maintainability for AI-enabled systems.
- Hands-on experience with AI-enabled systems, intelligent workflows, and emerging automation technologies.
- Experience building or contributing to production or near-production applications, platforms, or intelligent workflows in complex enterprise environments.
- Familiarity with modern engineering patterns such as API integration, event-driven services, observability, monitoring, and scalable system design.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and software design skills.
- Commitment to engineering quality through automated testing, code reviews, observability, and continuous delivery.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work across engineering and business teams to shape effective solutions.
- A product mindset, learning agility, and comfort operating in a fast-evolving technology landscape.
Preferred:
- Experience contributing to reusable platform components or shared engineering capabilities.
- Experience with React and/or Angular.
- Understanding of financial markets, asset management, or financial instruments.

- $121,000.00 - $206,000.00 for the location of: Maryland, Colorado, Washington and remote workers
- $133,000.00 - $227,000.00 for the location of: Washington, D.C.
- $151,000.00 - $258,000.00 for the location of: New York, California
Placement within the range provided above is based on the individual’s relevant experience and skills for the role. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon company and individual performance.
