The Fan & Program Development Associate will support the Pittsburgh Steelers’ fan engagement and growth marketing initiatives by developing engaging strategies, programs, and content for targeted audiences. This role focuses on building and maintaining connections through outreach, sourcing compelling fan stories, and supporting fan development efforts to grow the Steelers’ fanbase.
This is a full-time, on-site internship and will report directly to the Growth & Audience Marketing Manager.

- Grow the Steelers bar network by identifying prospective bars and building relationships with owners and managers, keeping our bar listings accurate and up-to-date.
- Own physical fulfillment across programs. Pack and ship Fan Club gifting, fan packs, and grade-band school kits; track inventory; work with vendors on restocks and delivery timelines.
- Act as the go-to contact for college and university partners, from student organizations and Greek Life to campus administrators, in support of campus activations, Student Rush, and Steelers Student Summit.
- Coordinate Student Rush bidding winners for every home game so winners have their tickets, field passes, and gameday details locked in ahead of time.
- Help plan and execute key events such as the annual Student Summit, campus activations, and community engagement events.
- Find and pitch compelling fan stories for key audience and fan groups.
- Handle research and early planning for new initiatives: vetting vendors and venues, gathering quotes, and digging into best practices for our target audiences.
- Assist other Marketing Tracks during key events and initiatives as needed.

Which sports companies sponsor F-1 OPT visas in Pennsylvania?
Professional sports organizations in Pennsylvania with active operations teams, including those affiliated with the NFL, NHL, MLB, and NBA franchises in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, have historically hired OPT candidates in technical and operational roles. University athletic departments at Penn State, Temple, and Villanova also hire in sports administration and performance analysis. Sponsorship is not guaranteed and varies by role, department, and hiring cycle.
Which cities in Pennsylvania have the most sports F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs?
Philadelphia and Pittsburgh account for the majority of sports F-1 OPT opportunities in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia's dense professional sports ecosystem, combined with several Division I universities, creates consistent demand in roles spanning analytics, media, and fan experience. Pittsburgh supports similar hiring through its professional franchises and sports medicine infrastructure. State College also sees activity tied to Penn State's large athletic program.
What types of sports roles typically qualify for F-1 OPT sponsorship?
Roles that most commonly align with F-1 OPT eligibility in the sports industry include sports data analytics, sports marketing, digital content production, athletic training, sports medicine, event operations, and sports business development. Positions requiring quantitative skills or specialized academic backgrounds in kinesiology, sports management, or data science tend to fit OPT's work authorization requirements most clearly. Each role's eligibility depends on its direct connection to the student's field of study.
How do I find sports F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs in Pennsylvania?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international students on F-1 OPT looking for sponsorship-friendly employers, and it filters jobs by visa type and state so you can search sports roles in Pennsylvania directly. Rather than sorting through general job postings that rarely specify OPT eligibility, Migrate Mate surfaces positions from employers with a documented history of sponsoring international candidates in the sports industry.
Are there any Pennsylvania-specific considerations for F-1 OPT in the sports industry?
Pennsylvania's sports industry includes both large-market professional organizations and mid-size collegiate operations, which affects how sponsorship decisions are made. Larger franchises in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh typically have dedicated HR infrastructure familiar with OPT work authorization, while smaller organizations may have less experience with the process. OPT candidates should confirm that any offered role falls within their authorized field of study before accepting, as USCIS requires a direct connection between employment and degree program.
