Tips for Finding E-3 Sponsorship Jobs in Puerto Rico
Verify your degree meets specialty occupation
Puerto Rico employers filing E-3 LCAs must attest your role requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Cross-check your credential against the O*NET occupation profile for your target job title before applying to confirm the degree-to-role match holds.
Target pharmaceutical corridor employers directly
The Guaynabo-to-Barceloneta manufacturing belt houses major life sciences operations that file LCAs regularly. Contact HR teams in those facilities directly about specialty roles in quality assurance, regulatory affairs, and process engineering rather than waiting for postings to surface.
Search verified E-3 LCA filers on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter employers in Puerto Rico by E-3 LCA filing history. This shows you which San Juan or Guaynabo employers have actually filed for Australian workers, so you're targeting companies already familiar with the process.
Confirm the LCA wage tier before negotiating
Puerto Rico prevailing wages are set at the territory level and can differ from mainland U.S. figures for the same occupation. Run your job title and work location through the OFLC Wage Search to know which wage level applies before you reach the offer stage.
Get your LCA certified before your consulate appointment
DOL must certify the Labor Condition Application before you can attend your E-3 interview at a U.S. consulate. Build at least two weeks of LCA processing time into your timeline so a delay doesn't force you to reschedule the consular appointment.

Which industries in Puerto Rico sponsor the most E-3 visas?
Pharmaceutical and life sciences manufacturing is the dominant E-3 sponsorship sector in Puerto Rico, driven by the island's large concentration of FDA-regulated production facilities. Healthcare systems in the San Juan metro, along with financial services and engineering consulting firms, also file E-3 LCAs for specialty occupation roles requiring specific degree credentials.
Which cities in Puerto Rico have the most E-3 sponsorship jobs?
San Juan and its adjacent municipalities, including Guaynabo and Bayamon, account for the largest share of E-3-eligible employers in Puerto Rico. The pharmaceutical manufacturing corridor stretching from Guaynabo through Barceloneta on the island's north coast is a secondary concentration, particularly for engineering, quality, and regulatory affairs roles.
What types of roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship in Puerto Rico?
E-3 status requires a specialty occupation, meaning the role must normally require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. In Puerto Rico, qualifying roles most commonly appear in pharmaceutical sciences, biomedical engineering, accounting and finance, software development, and clinical healthcare. Roles where any general degree satisfies the requirement typically don't qualify under USCIS standards.
How do I find E-3 jobs in Puerto Rico?
Migrate Mate lets you search Puerto Rico employers filtered by E-3 LCA filing history, showing which companies have already sponsored Australian workers in the territory. Because E-3 LCA data is public record through DOL, you can verify an employer's sponsorship track record before investing time in their application process, which saves significant effort compared to approaching employers cold.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 jobs in Puerto Rico?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
