INTRODUCTION
Paradigm is a software company transforming the way that the residential, construction & building product industries operate across the globe. We are looking for a Senior Applied ML Engineer to be part of revolutionizing these industries.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for a Senior Applied ML Engineer to design, implement, and scale machine learning systems that power next-generation construction and digital twin solutions. You will apply advanced ML techniques—ranging from computer vision to large language models—to automate critical workflows such as blueprint understanding, 3D model generation, and materials forecasting. This role blends research, engineering, and domain expertise to deliver practical, production-ready AI systems that transform how homes are designed, estimated, and built.
What You Will Do:
- Develop and optimize CNN and LLM-powered models for computer vision, document extraction, and automated construction workflows.
- Prototype, fine-tune, and assess models for NLP tasks such as classification, entity recognition, and summarization of construction data.
- Build scalable ML pipelines and backend services that integrate into production-grade agents and digital platforms.
- Drive the end-to-end ML lifecycle: from experimentation and training, to deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
- Integrate retrieval, ML, and rules-based methods to deliver reliable, explainable, and supportable features.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, software engineers, and construction domain experts to solve real-world challenges with measurable business impact.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience designing and deploying applied ML systems at scale.
- Experience with computer vision (CNNs, object detection, segmentation) and natural language processing (LLMs, embeddings, transformers).
- Strong proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face).
- Experience with ML Ops platforms and deploying ML systems into production (MLflow, Kubeflow or equivalent).
- Experience with APIs, CI/CD pipelines, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
- Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience applying ML in construction, CAD/BIM, architecture, or digital twin platforms is preferred.
- Familiarity with graph-based retrieval, RAG pipelines, or multimodal ML is preferred.
COMPENSATION
- Compensation Range: $125,250 - $183,700

Which companies sponsor visas for AI ML engineers in Wisconsin?
Epic Systems, American Family Insurance, Northwestern Mutual, Exact Sciences, and Fetch Rewards are among Wisconsin employers with documented H-1B visa sponsorship activity for technical roles. Epic in particular hires machine learning engineers at scale at its Verona campus. Larger employers in the Madison and Milwaukee metros are generally more likely to have established sponsorship processes than smaller startups.
Which visa types are most common for AI ML engineering roles in Wisconsin?
The H-1B is the most common visa for AI and ML engineers in Wisconsin, as these roles typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, or a related field. Candidates already in the U.S. on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT extension may work for a sponsoring employer before H-1B status begins. O-1A is an option for engineers with demonstrated exceptional ability.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most AI ML engineering sponsorship jobs?
Madison is the strongest market, driven by Epic Systems, the University of Wisconsin-Madison's research commercialization activity, and a growing startup scene. Milwaukee is the second hub, with financial services firms like Northwestern Mutual and ManpowerGroup investing in AI capabilities. Verona, immediately west of Madison, is effectively an extension of that market given Epic's headquarters there.
How to find ai ml engineering visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate lets you filter AI and ML engineering jobs specifically by visa sponsorship availability and state, so you can browse Wisconsin-based roles without manually vetting each employer. Given that sponsorship willingness varies significantly by company size and HR infrastructure in Wisconsin, using a platform like Migrate Mate that screens for sponsoring employers saves considerable time for international candidates targeting this market.
Are there any Wisconsin-specific considerations for AI ML engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Wisconsin's university pipeline, particularly from UW-Madison's computer science and statistics programs, means employers here are accustomed to hiring international graduates with OPT work authorization. The state has no dedicated tech visa incentive program, so sponsorship depends entirely on individual employer policy. AI and ML roles in Wisconsin's dominant industries, including insurance, healthcare IT, and financial services, tend to require domain knowledge alongside core ML skills.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ai ml engineering jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
