- This position will be located at DEEP headquarters at 79 Em Street, Hartford CT. This position has the opportunity of teleworking and a flexible in office schedule.
- Duties include but not limited to:
- Adhere to the geology mission of the CGNHS (CGS Ch.462 Sec.24-1 to 24-4).
- Oversee technical reviews of quarry geologic source reports and geochemical data therein associated with aggregate for use in concrete under Connecticut General Statues 22a-349c and 22a-349d.
- Serve as the Principal Investigator on federally funded projects.
- Coordinate geological field surveys and provide technical direction for scientific research, public engagement activities, and professional services.
- Provide scientific support and advice to federal and state government officials, private developers, non-profit organizations, educators, students, the media, and public.
- Foster collaborative relationships with the academic community, municipal stakeholders, Councils of Governments (COGs), State and Federal agencies, non-profits, and the public.
- Collaborate with other State Geological Surveys in the formulation of National earth science policies, programs, and related issues.
- Serve on internal and external State and National committees as a scientific representative of the DEEP and the State of Connecticut.
- Collect, compile, analyze, and preserve data pertaining to the geologic environment.
- Manage the preparation and publication of reports and maps on the geology and natural resources of the State.

- College training in a scientific or technical discipline related to the environmental field including but not limited to biological, earth, or physical sciences; environmental planning; environmental law; economics; leisure services; geographic information systems; geography with a concentration in geographic information systems; natural sciences; natural resources may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree.
- A Master's degree in a scientific or technical discipline related to the environmental field including but not limited to biological, earth or physical sciences; environmental planning; environmental law; economics; leisure services; geographic information systems; geography with a concentration in geographic information systems; natural sciences; natural resources may be substituted for five (5) years of the General Experience.
- NOTE: Education may only be substituted for a total of five (5) years.
