Accounting Analyst Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a accounting analyst job in Houston?
Your strongest path into Houston's accounting analyst market is targeting the energy and healthcare sectors, which drive the heaviest local demand. Firms in the Energy Corridor and Downtown Houston regularly hire analysts with proficiency in ERP systems like SAP or Oracle, and experience with revenue recognition or joint-venture accounting stands out here. Networking through the Houston CPA Society and pursuing roles at oilfield services companies, hospital systems, or regional banks gives you a genuine local edge.
Which companies hire accounting analysts in Houston?
Employers hiring accounting analysts in Houston right now include Hines, EY, and Chevron, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Houston's hiring base ranges from major integrated energy companies and petrochemical firms to large hospital networks, engineering contractors, and regional financial institutions, all of which maintain dedicated accounting teams.
Are there remote accounting analyst jobs in Houston?
Yes, although accounting analyst roles that involve close collaboration with local finance teams or on-site audit support tend to be in-person. About 22% of accounting analyst openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting growing flexibility among corporate employers. Roles focused on financial reporting, variance analysis, and month-end close are the most likely to offer hybrid schedules at Houston-based companies.
How can I get a accounting analyst job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Houston is landing a staff accountant or junior financial analyst role at a mid-size energy services or healthcare company, then transitioning into an analyst title after six to twelve months. Houston employers like regional oilfield services firms and large hospital networks regularly hire recent accounting graduates for rotational or accounts payable roles that build analyst-level skills. Familiarity with SAP, strong Excel skills, and any internship with a Houston-area CPA firm or corporate finance team will separate you from other entry-level candidates.

Houston's position as a global energy capital, combined with one of the largest medical center complexes in the world and a growing financial services corridor, makes these sectors the dominant and most consistent sources of local accounting analyst demand.
