Accounting Analyst Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a accounting analyst in Texas?
Most accounting analyst positions in Texas require a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance as the foundational step. While the role itself does not require a state license, advancing into roles that involve signing off on financial statements or working in public accounting typically means pursuing CPA licensure through the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy, which administers the Uniform CPA Exam and sets Texas-specific education and experience requirements. Many Texas employers also value candidates who are actively pursuing CPA candidacy.
How much do accounting analysts make in Texas?
Accounting analysts in Texas earn a median of about $82,970 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $60,840 for the lowest 10% to over $126,200 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire accounting analysts in Texas?
Employers hiring accounting analysts in Texas right now include Goldman Sachs, Amazon, and Alvarez & Marsal, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of energy majors, large hospital systems, and Fortune 500 headquarters means demand comes from a notably wide range of industries compared to most other states.
Which Texas cities have the most accounting analyst jobs?
Dallas, Houston, and Austin have the most accounting analyst openings in Texas. Houston's dominance reflects its deep concentration of energy, petrochemical, and port logistics companies that need analysts with industry-specific cost accounting skills, while Dallas drives demand through its dense cluster of financial services firms, insurance companies, and corporate headquarters, and Austin's fast-growing tech sector has created a steady stream of FP&A and revenue accounting roles.
Are there remote accounting analyst jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than many comparable finance roles, because accounting analyst work centers on data systems and reporting that travel well across remote environments. About 21% of accounting analyst openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how broadly Texas employers have embraced flexible arrangements for desk-based analytical positions. Financial reporting, variance analysis, and budget modeling are the sub-functions most commonly offered on a fully remote basis.
How can I get hired as a accounting analyst in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing a staff accountant or accounting associate role and building toward the analyst title from within. Large Texas employers such as major hospital networks, energy companies, and state agencies regularly hire recent graduates into rotational finance programs or entry-level general ledger positions that feed into analyst tracks. A degree from an AACSB-accredited Texas business school carries weight, and beginning the CPA candidacy process through the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy signals seriousness to hiring managers even before you pass the exam.
Where can I find and apply to accounting analyst jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to accounting analyst jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings updated regularly. Search the listings to see what is available in your preferred city or work arrangement, find roles that fit your background, and apply directly to the ones that match.
