Accounting Analyst Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a accounting analyst in Pennsylvania?
Most accounting analyst roles in Pennsylvania require a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance as the baseline qualification. While state licensure is not mandatory for analyst positions, candidates who have passed the CPA exam or hold an active CPA license issued through the Pennsylvania State Board of Accountancy hold a clear advantage in hiring. Many employers, particularly in healthcare and financial services, prioritize candidates who are actively pursuing CPA licensure alongside their accounting education.
How much do accounting analysts make in Pennsylvania?
Accounting analysts in Pennsylvania earn a median of about $84,240 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $55,220 for the lowest 10% to over $124,590 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire accounting analysts in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring accounting analysts in Pennsylvania right now include Saint-Gobain, EY, and Wesco, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Pennsylvania's concentration of large healthcare systems, insurance carriers, and state government agencies means accounting analyst openings appear with regularity across both the public and private sectors.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most accounting analyst jobs?
Pittsburgh, Malvern, and Cranberry Township have the most accounting analyst openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia leads because of its dense concentration of Fortune 500 companies, major health systems, and financial services firms, while Pittsburgh's strength in healthcare and technology drives consistent demand, and Harrisburg generates openings through state government agencies and the public-sector organizations clustered around the capital.
Are there remote accounting analyst jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, and more than most fields. Accounting analyst work is largely desk-based and data-driven, making it well suited to remote arrangements. About 100% of accounting analyst openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly employers in the state have adopted flexible work policies since the shift in office culture. Financial reporting, variance analysis, and general ledger work are the functions most commonly performed fully remote.
How can I get hired as a accounting analyst in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an accounting internship or rotational program with a Pennsylvania employer before graduation. Large organizations such as UPMC, Lincoln Financial Group, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania run structured programs for candidates without prior full-time experience. Lateral moves from roles such as accounts payable specialist, payroll coordinator, or bookkeeper are a common bridge. Passing at least one section of the CPA exam or obtaining an associate-level certification through the Pennsylvania State Board of Accountancy signals seriousness to hiring managers and strengthens any entry-level application.
Where can I find and apply to accounting analyst jobs in Pennsylvania?
You can find and apply to accounting analyst jobs in Pennsylvania on Migrate Mate, which lists current Pennsylvania openings across industries including healthcare, finance, manufacturing, and government. Search the listings for roles that match your experience level and specialization, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
