Overview
The Accounts Receivable Clerk keeps customer payments and account records accurate and up to date. You’ll work in our ERP system and in spreadsheets. You’ll talk with customers to answer billing questions, collect past-due balances, and keep payments coming in. You’ll also help with other office tasks and work closely with sales, operations and the owner.
What you’ll do
- Create invoices, post customer payments and apply cash in our ERP system
- Maintain and update AR spreadsheets, payment records and the AR aging report
- Send customer statements
- Communicate with customers about invoices, payments and account questions
- Provide courteous customer service while resolving billing concerns
- Follow up on past-due accounts by phone and email, set up payment arrangements, and flag accounts for credit holds
- Process credit applications and set up new customer accounts and terms
- Answer billing questions from our sales reps
- Work with our AP lead on overlapping account issues
- Handle general office work as needed

What we’re looking for
- AR, billing, bookkeeping or collections experience preferred. We’ll train the right person
- Comfortable with spreadsheets (Excel) and keeping information accurate
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Customer-service mindset and a professional, helpful approach
- Comfortable making collection calls while keeping customer relationships good
- Detail-oriented and organized with account information
- Able to keep sensitive financial information confidential
- Reliable commute to Meadville

- Experience with an ERP or accounting system
- Experience in wholesale or distribution
