Accounts Receivable Assistant Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a accounts receivable assistant in Illinois?
Most Illinois employers expect at least an associate degree in accounting, business, or finance, with a bachelor's degree preferred at larger corporate and healthcare employers. Illinois does not require a state-issued license for this role. Candidates strengthen their candidacy by completing coursework through Illinois community colleges such as Oakton, Harper, or Moraine Valley, and by earning vendor-recognized credentials like QuickBooks certification or the AIPB bookkeeping certificate before applying.
Which companies hire accounts receivable assistants in Illinois?
Employers hiring accounts receivable assistants in Illinois right now include Nvenia, Carle Health, and Hitachi Rail, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Illinois's deep mix of healthcare networks, manufacturing firms, and financial services companies means openings appear across a wide range of industries beyond any single sector.
Which Illinois cities have the most accounts receivable assistant jobs?
Chicago, Elgin, and Morris lead Illinois for accounts receivable assistant openings. Chicago drives the majority of listings because of its dense concentration of corporate headquarters, healthcare systems, and financial services firms, while suburban hubs like Naperville and Schaumburg attract openings from major employers that have relocated regional shared-service and finance operations outside the city.
Are there remote accounts receivable assistant jobs in Illinois?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 50% of accounts receivable assistant openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting that most of the core work involves digital invoicing systems and cloud-based accounting platforms rather than physical documents. Cash-application and collections coordination roles tend to attract the highest share of fully remote postings.
How can I get hired as a accounts receivable assistant in Illinois with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an administrative or billing clerk role at a mid-size Illinois company, which typically requires only a high school diploma and basic spreadsheet skills. Large Illinois healthcare networks like Northwestern Medicine and Advocate Health Care run revenue cycle training programs that bring in candidates without prior billing experience. Earning a QuickBooks certification or completing an accounting technology certificate at an Illinois community college makes a resume competitive for these openings.
