Accounting Analyst Jobs in Michigan: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become an accounting analyst in Michigan?
Most accounting analyst roles in Michigan require a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. While the role itself does not require a state license, candidates who pursue CPA licensure through the Michigan Board of Accountancy gain a clear competitive advantage. Michigan requires passing the Uniform CPA Exam and meeting education and experience hours set by the board. Employers in automotive and healthcare sectors especially favor candidates with or working toward that credential.
How much do accounting analysts make in Michigan?
Accounting analysts in Michigan earn a median of about $96,430 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $65,390 for the lowest 10% to over $142,380 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire accounting analysts in Michigan?
Employers hiring accounting analysts in Michigan right now include Ilitch Sports + Entertainment, GENTHERM, and Kforce, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Michigan's concentration of automotive manufacturers, regional hospital systems, and financial services firms means accounting analyst demand stays consistent throughout the year.
Which Michigan cities have the most accounting analyst jobs?
Detroit, Novi, and Troy have the most accounting analyst openings in Michigan. Detroit's dense corporate and manufacturing base drives the bulk of listings, while Grand Rapids draws significant demand from its growing healthcare and consumer goods sectors, and Ann Arbor benefits from the University of Michigan's research enterprise and surrounding professional services firms.
Are there remote accounting analyst jobs in Michigan?
Yes, and more than most fields. Accounting analyst work is largely desk-based and data-driven, making it well suited to remote arrangements. About 60% of accounting analyst openings tied to Michigan are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly this role has shifted away from mandatory on-site presence. Financial reporting and cost analysis tasks are the functions most often offered fully remote.
How can I get hired as an accounting analyst in Michigan with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for staff accountant or junior financial analyst roles at large Michigan employers such as automotive suppliers, regional hospital networks, or insurance carriers, which regularly hire new graduates. Companies like Consumers Energy and major Detroit-area manufacturers run structured associate finance programs. Internships with Michigan-based public accounting firms also convert frequently to full-time offers. Completing credits toward CPA eligibility through a Michigan institution strengthens any entry-level application significantly.
Where can I find and apply to accounting analyst jobs in Michigan?
You can find and apply to accounting analyst jobs in Michigan on Migrate Mate, which lists current Michigan openings updated regularly. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your experience and location, and apply directly to each employer. No signup is required to see the listings.
