Finance And Accounting Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a finance and accounting in Texas?
Most finance and accounting roles in Texas require at minimum a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, and many employer postings specifically require a CPA. The Texas State Board of Public Accountancy oversees CPA licensure in the state, which requires completing the required semester hours, passing the Uniform CPA Exam, and fulfilling the experience requirement under a licensed CPA. Candidates pursuing roles in financial analysis or corporate finance often supplement their degree with a CFA or CMA credential.
Which companies hire finance and accountings in Texas?
Companies currently hiring finance and accountings in Texas include Jobot, Baker Tilly Canada, and Newrez, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Texas's concentration of energy, healthcare, and technology headquarters means demand is broad, and the Big Four accounting firms and regional CPA practices also maintain significant hiring pipelines throughout the state.
Which Texas cities have the most finance and accounting jobs?
Austin, Houston, and Dallas account for the largest share of finance and accounting openings in Texas. Houston's energy sector and medical center drive heavy demand for cost accountants and financial analysts, Dallas anchors regional and national corporate finance teams across industries including retail and financial services, and Austin's technology and semiconductor growth has expanded its need for FP&A and revenue accounting professionals.
Are there remote finance and accounting jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields, because finance and accounting work is largely analytical and document-driven rather than requiring a physical presence. About 62% of finance and accounting openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how well the work translates to distributed teams. Roles in FP&A, tax compliance, and management reporting tend to be the most remote-friendly, while positions requiring on-site audit work or hands-on month-end close coordination are more likely to require in-office time.
How can I get hired as a finance and accounting in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a staff accountant, accounting analyst, or accounts payable and receivable associate role, which large Texas employers like USAA, Texas Health Resources, and H-E-B regularly post as true entry-level positions open to new graduates. Completing the hours required to sit for the CPA exam, even before passing, signals seriousness to Texas employers and gives you a competitive edge over candidates with only a diploma. Internship programs at the Big Four offices in Houston and Dallas remain one of the most reliable pipelines into full-time finance and accounting roles in the state.
Where can I find and apply to finance and accounting jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to finance and accounting jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to Texas employers and locations. Search by city or specialty to focus on the roles that fit your background, then apply directly to the ones that match your experience and credentials.
