Financial Reporting Analyst Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a financial reporting analyst in Texas?
Most Texas employers require a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, and many prefer candidates who hold or are pursuing a CPA license issued through the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy. The CPA is not legally required for the analyst role itself, but it is a meaningful differentiator in Texas hiring. Candidates coming from public accounting firms or corporate accounting roles in industries like energy or financial services tend to move into financial reporting positions most efficiently.
How much do financial reporting analysts make in Texas?
Financial reporting analysts in Texas earn a median of about $80,920 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $53,380 for the lowest 10% to over $132,040 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire financial reporting analysts in Texas?
Employers hiring financial reporting analysts in Texas right now include AmTrust Financial, Atmos Energy Corporation, and Axxess Consult, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of energy majors, large healthcare systems, and corporate headquarters means demand is broad and not limited to any single sector.
Which Texas cities have the most financial reporting analyst jobs?
Dallas, Fort Worth, and Houston have the most financial reporting analyst openings in Texas. Houston leads because of its density of energy companies and publicly traded corporations with complex consolidation and SEC reporting needs, while Dallas draws heavily from financial services, retail, and telecom headquarters, and Austin's growth in technology and corporate relocations has expanded its finance team hiring substantially in recent years.
Are there remote financial reporting analyst jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields, since financial reporting is a desk-based analytical role that translates well to remote environments. About 14% of financial reporting analyst openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how readily the work moves outside a traditional office. Month-end close coordination and systems access sometimes keep roles hybrid rather than fully remote, but off-site arrangements are common.
How can I get hired as a financial reporting analyst in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a staff accountant or accounting associate role at a large Texas employer or regional public accounting firm, where exposure to month-end close and financial statement preparation builds directly relevant experience. Texas-based firms and corporations including energy companies and healthcare systems in Houston and Dallas regularly hire new graduates into rotational finance programs that include reporting functions. Sitting for the CPA exam through the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy while in an entry role signals commitment and accelerates progression into analyst titles.
Where can I find and apply to financial reporting analyst jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to financial reporting analyst jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across Houston, Dallas, Austin, and other markets. Find roles that fit your experience and apply directly to each one.
