Senior Corporate Accountant Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a senior corporate accountant in Texas?
The standard path starts with a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, followed by earning a CPA license through the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy, which requires passing the Uniform CPA Exam and meeting Texas's education and experience hours. Most employers also expect several years of progressively responsible accounting experience, typically in public accounting or a large corporate finance department, before promoting or hiring at the senior level.
How much do senior corporate accountants make in Texas?
Senior corporate accountants in Texas earn a median of about $80,920 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $53,380 for the lowest 10% to over $132,040 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire senior corporate accountants in Texas?
Employers hiring senior corporate accountants in Texas right now include Alvarez & Marsal, Equinix, and GlobalFoundries, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of energy majors, Fortune 500 headquarters, and regional financial institutions means corporate accounting roles appear across a broad range of industries year-round.
Which Texas cities have the most senior corporate accountant jobs?
Dallas, Houston, and Austin have the most senior corporate accountant openings in Texas. Houston's dominance reflects its role as the energy capital of the country, Dallas draws volume from its dense concentration of corporate headquarters and financial services firms, and Austin's rapid expansion in technology and healthcare has added a growing share of corporate finance roles alongside its established employers.
Are there remote senior corporate accountant jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields. Senior corporate accounting is largely desk and analytical work, which makes it well suited to remote and hybrid arrangements. About 34% of senior corporate accountant openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026. Financial reporting, consolidations, and month-end close tasks are the functions most commonly performed fully remote, while roles requiring hands-on audit support or treasury operations tend to favor hybrid or on-site schedules.
How can I get hired as a senior corporate accountant in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a staff accountant or accounting associate role at a large Texas employer, using it as a bridge to build the years of experience the senior title requires. Energy companies in Houston such as ExxonMobil and Chevron, along with major Texas-based financial institutions, run structured new-graduate rotational programs in corporate finance. Starting in accounts payable, general ledger, or external audit at a public accounting firm and then moving into industry is a well-worn route. Sitting for the CPA exam while in an entry role signals commitment and accelerates promotion timelines.
Where can I find and apply to senior corporate accountant jobs in Texas?
