Banking Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a banking professional in Texas?
Most banking roles in Texas require at minimum a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, or accounting. Mortgage loan originators must register with the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System, or NMLS, and complete Texas-specific coursework regulated by the Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending. Other specialized roles such as investment adviser representatives fall under the Texas State Securities Board. Entry-level positions like teller or analyst roles often require only a degree and a clean financial background check.
Which companies hire banking professionals in Texas?
Employers hiring banking professionals in Texas right now include Dollar General, GameStop, and Finish Line, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of corporate headquarters and regional bank offices means consistent openings at both national institutions and large community banks chartered in the state.
Which Texas cities have the most banking jobs?
Houston, Dallas, and Austin lead Texas for banking openings, reflecting the concentration of major financial institutions. Houston's energy sector generates substantial commercial and corporate banking demand, Dallas anchors a large concentration of regional bank headquarters and financial services firms, and Austin's rapid tech and startup growth has driven significant expansion in business banking and lending teams.
Are there remote banking jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely analytical fields, since many banking roles require in-branch client interaction or on-site compliance oversight. About 2% of banking openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with hybrid arrangements more widely available than fully remote. The roles most likely to offer remote or hybrid flexibility include credit analysis, loan processing, compliance review, and back-office operations.
How can I get hired as a banking professional in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a teller or personal banker role at a Texas community bank or credit union, where on-the-job training is standard and advancement is structured. Large Texas-based institutions run formal associate and rotational programs for recent graduates, and major national banks with Texas headquarters offer new-analyst programs specifically in cities like Dallas and Houston. Earning your NMLS registration before applying gives candidates an edge for lending-adjacent roles, and lateral experience in customer service or accounting is recognized as relevant.
Where can I find and apply to banking jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to banking jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience and location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
