Accounting Associate Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a accounting associate in Texas?
Most accounting associate roles in Texas require at minimum an associate degree in accounting or finance, though a bachelor's degree is preferred at larger employers. Texas does not require a state license to work as an accounting associate, but candidates who pursue the Certified Public Accountant credential through the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy strengthen their long-term prospects considerably. Starting in accounts payable or payroll at a regional firm or corporate employer is the most common entry path.
Which companies hire accounting associates in Texas?
Companies currently hiring accounting associates in Texas include Baker Tilly Canada, Farther, and Celanese, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Texas's concentration of energy companies, financial services firms, and corporate headquarters in the Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston areas makes it one of the most active states for accounting support hiring year-round.
Which Texas cities have the most accounting associate jobs?
Dallas, Fort Worth, and Irving lead Texas in accounting associate openings. Houston's concentration of energy and petrochemical corporate headquarters drives demand there, while Dallas-Fort Worth's density of financial services firms, airlines, and retail headquarters sustains a high volume of openings, and Austin's fast-growing technology and state government sectors add consistent entry-level and mid-level accounting support roles.
Are there remote accounting associate jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than many comparable roles, since accounting associate work is largely desk-based and system-driven. About 50% of accounting associate openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting broader adoption of cloud accounting platforms across Texas employers. Accounts payable processing, invoice review, and financial data entry are the sub-functions most commonly offered on a remote or hybrid basis.
How can I get hired as a accounting associate in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to accounts payable or billing coordinator roles at large Texas employers such as hospital systems, energy companies, or regional CPA firms, which regularly hire candidates with a two- or four-year accounting degree and no prior work history. Employers like Texas Health Resources and major energy companies in Houston run structured finance rotational or new-graduate programs. Lateral entry from adjacent roles such as payroll clerk, administrative coordinator, or bookkeeping assistant is also common, and completing the first part of the CPA exam process through the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy gives candidates a concrete credential advantage.
Where can I find and apply to accounting associate jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to accounting associate jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings updated regularly. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level, preferred city, and specialization, then apply directly to the ones that fit your background.
