Private Client Advisor Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a private client advisor in Texas?
Most private client advisor roles in Texas require passing the FINRA Series 7 and Series 66 exams, both of which must be sponsored by a registered broker-dealer or registered investment adviser before you can sit. Texas does not have a separate state-level advisor license beyond FINRA registration and the Investment Adviser Representative registration administered through FINRA's Central Registration Depository. A bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or business is the standard educational baseline, and the CFP credential meaningfully strengthens candidacy for client-facing wealth management roles.
How much do private client advisors make in Texas?
Private client advisors in Texas earn a median of about $99,160 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $46,450 for the lowest 10% to over $359,040 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire private client advisors in Texas?
Employers hiring private client advisors in Texas right now include JPMorganChase and Marsh McLennan Agency, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters and a large base of high-net-worth individuals means established national and regional wealth management firms maintain active Texas hiring pipelines year-round.
Which Texas cities have the most private client advisor jobs?
Austin, Dallas, and Arlington have the most private client advisor openings in Texas. Houston's energy-sector wealth and Dallas's dense concentration of corporate headquarters and private equity firms drive the bulk of demand, while Austin's rapid tech-industry growth has made it a rising market for advisors serving newly liquid founders and executives.
Are there remote private client advisor jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely analytical finance roles because private client advisory work is built around face-to-face relationship management with high-net-worth clients. About 2% of private client advisor openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those that are tend to be senior roles where the advisor already holds an established book of business and client trust.
How can I get hired as a private client advisor in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is joining a large Texas-based wealth management or private banking platform as a client associate or relationship associate, roles that place you directly alongside senior advisors while you build your licensing credentials. JPMorgan, Wells Fargo, and Merrill Lynch all run structured associate advisor development programs out of their Texas offices designed for candidates without an existing book of business. Holding or actively pursuing your Series 7, Series 66, and CFP designation signals seriousness and gives you a clear edge over candidates who have not started the credentialing process.
Where can I find and apply to private client advisor jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to private client advisor jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings from employers actively hiring right now. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level and specialty, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
