Accounting Associate Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become an accounting associate in California?
Most California employers require at least an associate degree in accounting or a related field, though a bachelor's degree is increasingly standard for competitive openings. While the accounting associate role itself does not require a state-issued license, candidates pursuing advancement should plan toward CPA licensure through the California Board of Accountancy, which requires completing accredited coursework and passing the Uniform CPA Examination.
Which companies hire accounting associates in California?
Employers hiring accounting associates in California right now include ZERO IMPACT ENERGY, Andersen, and Hyundai Capital America, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. California's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, major health systems, and large public-sector agencies means consistent demand across both private and government accounting roles.
Which California cities have the most accounting associate jobs?
Los Angeles, Irvine, and Sacramento County have the most accounting associate openings in California. The distribution reflects the scale of corporate finance operations in Los Angeles and the Bay Area's dense concentration of technology and financial services firms, which collectively generate a large share of the state's accounting support roles.
Are there remote accounting associate jobs in California?
Yes, and more than many fields, since accounting associate work is largely desk-based and document-driven. About 50% of accounting associate openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how well the role adapts to distributed teams. Accounts payable processing, reconciliations, and financial reporting tasks tend to be the functions most commonly offered remotely.
How can I get hired as an accounting associate in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to junior bookkeeping or accounts payable clerk roles, which California employers regularly post as stepping stones into accounting associate positions. Large California employers including county government agencies, UC system campuses, and regional healthcare networks run structured internship and new-grad programs worth targeting. Earning a QuickBooks certification or completing coursework through a California Community College accounting program gives candidates a measurable edge when competing for entry-level openings.
Where can I find and apply to accounting associate jobs in California?
You can find and apply to accounting associate jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings from employers actively hiring. Search the listings, find roles that match your experience and location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
