Wealth Advisor Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a wealth advisor in Texas?
Becoming a wealth advisor in Texas starts with a bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field, followed by passing the FINRA Series 65 exam to register as an Investment Adviser Representative with the Texas State Securities Board. Most firms also require the Series 7 if you plan to sell securities. Earning a CFP designation strengthens your candidacy significantly and is expected at many Texas advisory practices.
How much do wealth advisors make in Texas?
Wealth advisors in Texas earn a median of about $99,160 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $46,450 for the lowest 10% to over $359,040 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire wealth advisors in Texas?
Employers hiring wealth advisors in Texas right now include Texas Health and Human Services Commission, Aprio, and Goldman Sachs, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of corporate headquarters and high-net-worth households makes it one of the more consistently active states for wealth management hiring year-round.
Which Texas cities have the most wealth advisor jobs?
Austin, Dallas, and Houston have the most wealth advisor openings in Texas. Houston and Dallas lead due to their dense concentration of corporate headquarters, private equity firms, and legacy banking institutions, while Austin's rapid growth in tech wealth and venture-backed executives has made it an increasingly active market for financial planning practices targeting younger high-net-worth clients.
Are there remote wealth advisor jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely analytical roles because wealth advising relies heavily on ongoing client relationships and in-person trust-building. About 0% of wealth advisor openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with remote arrangements most often attached to financial planning or paraplanning support roles rather than client-facing advisory positions.
How can I get hired as a wealth advisor in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is joining a large Texas-based wirehouse or regional firm as a client associate or paraplanner, roles that firms like Fidelity Investments and Edward Jones actively recruit for in Texas without requiring an existing book of business. Building toward your Series 65 registration and starting the CFP coursework while in an associate role signals commitment and accelerates promotion. Lateral entry from roles in banking, insurance, or accounting is common and well-regarded at Texas advisory teams.
Where can I find and apply to wealth advisor jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to wealth advisor jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now. Search the listings, find the roles that fit your experience and location, and apply directly to the ones that match.
