Cost Accounting Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a cost accounting manager in Texas?
Most cost accounting managers in Texas start with a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, then build several years of cost accounting experience in industries like manufacturing, energy, or healthcare. While Texas does not require a state license to work as a cost accounting manager, earning a Certified Public Accountant credential through the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy significantly strengthens your candidacy. Employers also value the CMA designation from the Institute of Management Accountants.
How much do cost accounting managers make in Texas?
Cost accounting managers in Texas earn a median of about $80,920 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $53,380 for the lowest 10% to over $132,040 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire cost accounting managers in Texas?
Employers hiring cost accounting managers in Texas right now include Augmentis, PepsiCo, and Weatherford, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Texas's concentration of large manufacturers, energy operators, and defense contractors means demand for cost accounting managers is consistent year-round rather than seasonal.
Which Texas cities have the most cost accounting manager jobs?
Houston, Austin, and Plano have the most cost accounting manager openings in Texas. Houston leads because of its density of petrochemical, refining, and industrial manufacturing headquarters, while Dallas attracts openings tied to corporate headquarters, distribution operations, and aerospace suppliers, and San Antonio draws demand from defense contractors, healthcare systems, and a growing advanced manufacturing base.
Are there remote cost accounting manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, though they are less common than in purely analytical finance roles, since cost accounting managers frequently need direct access to plant data, inventory systems, and operations teams. About 67% of cost accounting manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with remote arrangements most often found in corporate reporting and FP&A-adjacent cost analysis work rather than plant-level cost control roles.
How can I get hired as a cost accounting manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a cost accountant or staff accountant role at a Texas manufacturer or energy company and building direct exposure to standard costing and variance analysis. Large Texas employers in petrochemicals, defense, and healthcare systems regularly bring on new graduates into cost accounting rotational or associate programs. Pursuing the CMA designation early signals commitment to management accounting and gives candidates a measurable edge when competing for manager-track openings.
Where can I find and apply to cost accounting manager jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to cost accounting manager jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the state. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the ones that match.
