Cost Accounting Manager Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a cost accounting manager in Georgia?
A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is the standard entry point, and most Georgia employers expect several years of progressive cost accounting experience before promoting into a manager role. While Georgia does not require a state-issued license specific to cost accounting, earning the CPA credential through the Georgia State Board of Accountancy significantly strengthens candidacy. Proficiency in ERP systems and experience in manufacturing or operations finance are consistently cited in Georgia job postings.
How much do cost accounting managers make in Georgia?
Cost accounting managers in Georgia earn a median of about $81,900 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $51,830 for the lowest 10% to over $145,960 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire cost accounting managers in Georgia?
Employers hiring cost accounting managers in Georgia right now include Glock, Mativ, and Arclin, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Georgia's concentration of manufacturing plants, distribution centers, and consumer goods headquarters means cost accounting managers are in steady demand across industries far beyond Atlanta's corporate core.
Which Georgia cities have the most cost accounting manager jobs?
Atlanta, Athens, and Millen have the most cost accounting manager openings in Georgia. Atlanta drives the largest share through its density of corporate headquarters and shared-service centers, while Savannah's expanding port and logistics industry has drawn significant manufacturing investment, and Columbus benefits from anchoring employers in financial services and consumer goods that maintain on-site accounting teams.
Are there remote cost accounting manager jobs in Georgia?
Yes, though they are less common than in purely analytical finance roles because cost accounting managers frequently collaborate with plant operations and inventory teams on site. About 20% of cost accounting manager openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with fully remote arrangements most often found in the financial reporting and variance analysis components of the role rather than in plant-based cost control functions.
How can I get hired as a cost accounting manager in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a staff or senior cost accountant role at a Georgia manufacturing or distribution company, where hands-on exposure to standard costing and variance reporting builds the foundation employers require. Large Georgia employers in food production, automotive supply, and logistics hire cost accounting associates and rotate them through plant finance teams. Pursuing the CPA through the Georgia State Board of Accountancy and gaining ERP experience in systems like SAP or Oracle gives early-career candidates a clear competitive edge.
Where can I find and apply to cost accounting manager jobs in Georgia?
