Finance And Accounting Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a finance and accounting professional in Georgia?
Most finance and accounting roles in Georgia require at minimum a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance from an accredited institution. For public accounting or CPA-designated roles, candidates must pass the Uniform CPA Exam and meet the education and experience requirements set by the Georgia State Board of Accountancy. Many corporate roles also value credentials such as CMA or CFA, though those are not state-mandated.
Which companies hire finance and accountings in Georgia?
Companies currently hiring finance and accountings in Georgia include UPS, AT-PAC, and HB NEXT, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Georgia's deep concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters and financial services firms in the Atlanta metro means corporate finance openings are available year-round across industries.
Which Georgia cities have the most finance and accounting jobs?
The cities with the most finance and accounting openings in Georgia are Atlanta, Alpharetta, and West Point. Atlanta dominates due to its concentration of corporate headquarters, banking institutions, and professional services firms, while Alpharetta has grown into a significant hub as technology and fintech companies have established regional finance operations there, and Savannah's port-driven logistics economy supports a growing need for cost accounting and financial operations roles.
Are there remote finance and accounting jobs in Georgia?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 100% of finance and accounting openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how well much of this work translates to off-site environments. Roles in financial analysis, tax preparation, accounts payable, and FP&A tend to be the most remote-friendly, while positions requiring hands-on audit fieldwork or daily collaboration with operations teams are more likely to be on-site.
How can I get hired as a finance and accounting professional in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a staff accountant or accounts payable coordinator role, which Georgia employers across industries regularly fill with recent graduates. Large Atlanta-area employers such as Coca-Cola, Aflac, and the major public accounting firms in Midtown Atlanta hire accounting associates through campus recruiting programs each spring. Candidates coming from adjacent roles like bookkeeping, payroll processing, or administrative finance work also move into these positions. Sitting for the CPA exam early or earning an Excel or QuickBooks certification gives applicants a concrete edge over other entry-level candidates.
