- Foster Ongoing Dialogue: Collaborate with campus partners to organize speakers and support department- and unit-level conversations that advance campus-wide dialogue on AI.
- Ensuring Mission Alignment: Support the assessment of enterprise AI tools and resources, and contribute to institutional reporting that tracks USD's progress on AI initiatives.
- Incentivize Ideation: Contribute to the design and administration of internal grant programs that support faculty and staff exploration of AI, and encourage faculty-student research partnerships to examine the implications of AI within their disciplines.

AI Intern Jobs in San Diego: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a ai intern job in San Diego?
The strongest entry point in San Diego is targeting defense contractors and biotech firms in Sorrento Valley and the Torrey Pines corridor, where AI and machine learning roles are consistently active. Candidates with Python skills, hands-on project work, or university research experience from UC San Diego or San Diego State stand out. Applying directly to mid-size tech and life sciences companies in the UTC and Kearny Mesa areas also yields strong results.
Which companies hire ai interns in San Diego?
San Diego ai intern roles are posted by University of San Diego, Intuit, and Teradata and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. The local market draws heavily from defense primes, biotech firms, and SaaS companies with engineering hubs in the northern San Diego tech corridor.
Are there remote ai intern jobs in San Diego?
Yes, though it depends on the role: analytical and software-focused ai intern positions tend to be remote-friendly, while lab-adjacent or hardware-integrated roles almost always require on-site work. About 81% of ai intern openings tied to San Diego are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, with the flexible options concentrated in enterprise software and data science teams rather than defense or biotech.
How can I get a ai intern job in San Diego with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in San Diego is through university-affiliated research programs or internship pipelines at UC San Diego's Jacobs School of Engineering and affiliated startup incubators. Early-career candidates who build a public project portfolio on GitHub and target smaller biotech and SaaS companies in Kearny Mesa and Sorrento Valley often land first roles faster than those aiming at large defense contractors, which tend to require clearance or prior experience.
