We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Main Application Software Engineer to support development of the next-generation GENOSYL inhaled nitric oxide delivery platform. This hands-on role will develop and maintain the Gen 4 Main Application using C#/.NET, improve software quality and test coverage, support architecture and system integration, and provide technical guidance to distributed development resources.

The ideal candidate combines strong C# software engineering skills with experience in architecture, testing, code review, requirements clarification, database-backed applications, and hardware-adjacent integration. The role requires clear communication, sound judgment with ambiguous requirements, and experience contributing to regulated or safety-critical products. This is an onsite position in Atlanta, Georgia.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the Gen 4 Main Application using C#/.NET.
• Perform high-impact Main App code reviews and identify defects, coding-standard violations, maintainability concerns, and technical debt.
• Develop and improve unit, functional, and integration tests, including mock-based tests; support code-coverage analysis for the Main App and shared libraries.
• Help define, implement, document, and maintain Main App architecture, interfaces, dependencies, design decisions, and dependency diagrams.
• Clarify requirements, refine and estimate stories, develop acceptance criteria, and translate ambiguous or evolving requirements into implementable work.
• Support integration among the Main App, GUI, firmware, Vita, OS, and other Gen 4 components; troubleshoot issues across component boundaries.

• Serve as a technical point of contact for Main App questions and mentor less-experienced developers, including distributed external resources.

• Establish and enforce Main App/C# coding standards, software processes, development practices, onboarding materials, and quality improvements.

• Participate in Agile planning, huddles, refinements, retrospectives, sprint reviews, story organization, prioritization, and assignment tracking.

• Coordinate with software, systems, firmware, GUI, medical affairs, human factors, quality, verification, and external vendor teams.

• Contribute to software requirements, architecture and design documentation, test protocols, reports, and bidirectional traceability consistent with Vero Biotech quality processes and design controls.

• Support technical interviews, evaluate development tools, analyze software metrics, and apply sound judgment to improve delivery.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.

• Typically 6+ years of professional software-development experience, including substantial hands-on C#/.NET development; regulated medical-device, safety-critical, or IoT experience is strongly preferred.

• Strong experience with object-oriented design, application architecture, design patterns, dependency management, and maintainable software practices.

• Experience developing and executing unit, functional, and integration tests, including mocks/test doubles, code coverage, static analysis, CI/CD, and configuration management.

• Experience with database-backed applications and database design or implementation decisions.

• Experience designing, implementing, and consuming APIs or interprocess communication interfaces; RESTful API experience is preferred.

• Experience integrating software with firmware, sensors, electromechanical systems, embedded Linux, or hardware-controlled products is preferred; Yocto familiarity is a plus.

• Python proficiency for automation, testing, data processing, or development-support scripts is preferred.

• Experience with Jira, Git, distributed development teams, and external development partners.

• Ability to work with ambiguous requirements, ask precise clarification questions, identify downstream impacts, and communicate technical concepts clearly to non-software stakeholders.

• Knowledge of software-development documentation and design-control expectations for medical devices or other regulated products is preferred.

• Demonstrated ownership, problem-solving ability, individual leadership, and interest in mentoring other developers.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• No formal direct report responsibilities initially. The position is expected to provide increasing technical leadership, mentoring, design oversight, and work coordination for firmware and algorithm development as the role matures.
