Senior Level Assistant Controller Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a senior level assistant controller job?
Employers at this level look for candidates who have owned a full close cycle, managed or mentored junior accountants, and can speak to process improvements they drove. Technical depth in consolidations, intercompany eliminations, and internal controls gives a strong edge. Tailoring your resume to show outcomes you owned rather than tasks you completed is what separates competitive applicants at this stage.
Which companies hire senior level assistant controllers?
Companies hiring senior level assistant controllers right now include Jobot, CIM, and AMETEK, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. At this level, hiring comes from a mix of large public companies that need deep technical accounting bench strength and mid-size private firms growing their finance infrastructure.
Are there remote senior level assistant controller jobs?
Yes, though availability varies by company size and sector. About 18% of senior level assistant controller openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how many organizations have made flexible arrangements permanent for experienced accounting professionals who can operate independently and manage reporting cycles without on-site supervision.
What makes an assistant controller role senior level?
Senior level assistant controller roles are defined by scope and ownership rather than task execution. You are expected to lead the monthly and quarterly close, own reconciliation standards across the team, and serve as a technical resource for staff accountants and analysts. Mentoring junior team members, contributing to audit readiness, and improving control environments are responsibilities that distinguish senior roles from mid level ones.
Which industries hire the most senior level assistant controllers?
Senior level assistant controller roles concentrate in Manufacturing, Technology & Software, and Construction & Real Estate, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors tend to drive hiring at this level because of their regulatory reporting requirements, complex revenue recognition environments, and ongoing need for experienced professionals who can support controllers through audits and system transitions.
