Assistant Project Manager Jobs in Richmond: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a assistant project manager job in Richmond?
Focus your search on Richmond's strongest hiring sectors: government contracting firms in Innsbrook, construction and infrastructure companies tied to ongoing city development, and healthcare systems anchored in the Shockoe Bottom and Medical College of Virginia corridor. Candidates who can demonstrate experience with scheduling tools, budget tracking, or subcontractor coordination stand out. Earning a CAPM or even a PMP study credential signals readiness to Richmond employers who promote from within.
Which companies hire assistant project managers in Richmond?
Companies currently hiring assistant project managers in Richmond include EMCOR, Bristol Bay Construction Holdings, and Jobot, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Richmond's hiring base is a mix of mid-size government contractors, regional construction firms, and large healthcare networks, all of which rely on assistant project managers to support day-to-day project operations.
Are there remote assistant project manager jobs in Richmond?
Yes, though with limits, since assistant project manager roles often require on-site presence for construction walkthroughs, contractor meetings, or facility coordination. About 24% of assistant project manager openings tied to Richmond are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, skewing toward employers in IT services and government consulting rather than construction or healthcare.
How can I get a assistant project manager job in Richmond with little or no experience?
