Job Description: Data Governance, Visualization and Automation Intern

Position Summary
Xcel Energy is seeking candidates to support our CFO Organization, specifically, within our Financial Data Governance, Data Visualization or the Process Automation team. These teams support Financial Data Governance, reporting and visualization, and automation efforts that improve business processes and technology solutions across Xcel Energy. The intern may be involved in helping gather and analyze data, create visual insights, support dashboards and collaboration tools, or assisting with automation and process improvement projects that transform manual work and support internal business needs. This role may involve working with cross-functional teams, IT partners, and internal customers while using tools such as Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Teams, Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps, and other automation platforms.

Typical intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Support system administrator for financial/accounting systems and maintain and update financial master data
- Document and maintain procedures, process guides, and supporting materials to enhance consistency and compliance
- Ability to access, manage, transfer, integrate and analyze complex datasets.
- Develop, manage, and support automation project
- Collaborate with team members and internal stakeholders.
This position is for a May 24, 2027 start date. This position may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship’s initial term based on the candidate’s successful performance and Xcel Energy’s business needs.
Minimum Requirements
- Current Student, Junior status (as of Fall 2027) or higher
- Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing an undergraduate degree in computer science, computer engineering, data science, computer information systems, management information systems, business computer information systems, or a related technology or business field.
- Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3.0 GPA (out of a 4.0 scale) or higher
- Completed 2 years of undergraduate coursework
- Experience or Proficiency with data analytics tools; strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Interest in the energy/utility sector
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining data accuracy
- Experience with SQL, Pythion, Claude, MS Office (especially Excel), Power Platform
