Automation Jobs in Nashville: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a automation job in Nashville?
The strongest path into Nashville automation work is through the city's advanced manufacturing, logistics, and healthcare-operations sectors, which cluster in areas like Antioch, MetroCenter, and the Donelson industrial corridor. Employers there consistently value hands-on PLC, SCADA, or robotics experience, and candidates who hold relevant certifications from institutions like Tennessee College of Applied Technology Nashville stand out in a competitive local pool.
Which companies hire automations in Nashville?
Companies currently hiring automations in Nashville include FirstBank, Amazon, and Aprio, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Nashville's employer mix ranges from large distribution and fulfillment operations to healthcare-system facilities management teams and mid-size automotive suppliers, giving automation candidates a wide variety of environments and shift structures to choose from.
Are there remote automation jobs in Nashville?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the role: hands-on fieldwork and equipment-based positions require on-site presence, while controls programming, systems integration design, and automation project management can often be done remotely. About 40% of automation openings tied to Nashville are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with the remote share concentrated in software-defined and engineering-design functions rather than maintenance or installation roles.
How can I get a automation job in Nashville with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point in Nashville is an electromechanical technician or maintenance associate role at one of the city's distribution centers or manufacturing plants, many of which hire candidates with a two-year applied technology degree and train them on automation systems internally. Tennessee College of Applied Technology Nashville feeds directly into these employer pipelines, and lateral moves from general maintenance or quality-control roles within the same facility are a common stepping stone to dedicated automation positions.
Which industries hire the most automations in Nashville?
The sectors hiring the most automations in Nashville are Technology & Software, Retail, and E-Commerce & Online Marketplaces, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Nashville's growth as a regional logistics hub, combined with ongoing expansion of its healthcare and advanced manufacturing base, keeps automation demand consistently high across those verticals throughout the year.
