Senior Level Aviation Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a senior level aviation job?
Employers hiring at the senior level look for candidates who have led programs or teams, not just contributed to them. Deep domain expertise in areas like airworthiness, flight operations, systems engineering, or regulatory compliance is essential. Demonstrating ownership of outcomes, the ability to mentor junior staff, and experience navigating FAA or safety management systems will set your application apart from mid-level candidates.
Which companies hire senior level aviations?
Companies hiring senior level aviations right now include Ardurra, STV, and HDR, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Hiring at this level tends to concentrate among major carriers, defense contractors, MRO providers, and aerospace manufacturers that operate complex, highly regulated programs requiring proven senior leadership.
Are there remote senior level aviation jobs?
Yes, though many aviation roles remain tied to specific facilities, aircraft, or regulated environments. About 26% of senior level aviation openings are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with the most flexibility typically found in program management, regulatory affairs, technical writing, and safety oversight roles rather than hands-on operational or maintenance positions.
What makes an aviation role senior level?
A senior level aviation role is defined by the scope of ownership and the expectation of independent judgment. These positions require setting technical direction, making decisions that affect safety, compliance, or program outcomes, and mentoring less experienced staff. Senior professionals are accountable for results, not just tasks, and are expected to represent their discipline in cross-functional or leadership discussions without close supervision.
Which industries hire the most senior level aviations?
Senior level aviation roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Construction & Real Estate, and Healthcare & Medical Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Those sectors drive hiring at this level because they operate large, regulated fleets or programs where experienced aviation professionals are needed to manage risk, ensure airworthiness compliance, and lead technically complex projects.
