Tips for Your Real Estate Job Search
Tailor your resume to transaction volume
Real estate hiring managers want to see closed deals, portfolio size, or properties managed, not just job duties. Swap vague responsibilities for concrete output: number of transactions closed, square footage overseen, or lease renewal rates you maintained.
Get your license before applying
Most brokerage and sales roles require a state-issued real estate license before day one. Check your state's requirements, complete the pre-licensing course, and pass the exam before submitting applications so nothing delays an offer.
Filter openings by property type
Residential, commercial, industrial, and multifamily roles have different skill expectations and career trajectories. Narrow your search to the property type you know best so your resume speaks directly to what hiring managers in that segment need.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists real estate openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prepare to walk through a deal in interviews
Interviewers in real estate commonly ask you to walk through a transaction from prospecting to close. Practice a concise narrative of a real deal you handled, covering how you sourced it, managed the client, and resolved any obstacles that came up.
Negotiate using market comps, not feelings
When discussing compensation, anchor your ask to recent comp data for your market and property type. Knowing the going rate for your license level and specialization in a specific metro gives you a credible baseline and shortens back-and-forth.
Real Estate Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most real estate professionals?
The companies hiring the most real estate professionals right now include Anywhere Real Estate, RangeWater Real Estate, and First American, with the largest share of openings in California, Texas, and Florida, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Demand is concentrated in residential brokerage and commercial property management across major metro areas.
How many real estate jobs are remote?
About 16% of real estate openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with most of those roles sitting in corporate functions like asset management, real estate analysis, and transaction coordination rather than client-facing brokerage or leasing positions that require on-site presence.
How do you become a real estate professional?
Start by completing your state's required pre-licensing coursework, then pass the state licensing exam to earn your real estate license. From there, affiliate with a licensed brokerage to begin practicing. Many professionals build early experience in leasing or property management before specializing in sales, commercial transactions, or development.
Can you get hired in real estate with little or no experience?
Yes, entry-level roles in leasing, transaction coordination, and property management regularly hire candidates without prior real estate experience. Getting your state license before you apply removes the main barrier. Highlighting transferable skills like customer service, negotiation, or financial analysis helps your application stand out for junior roles at brokerages and property management firms.
What does the real estate interview process look like?
Most real estate interviews start with a recruiter or hiring manager screen focused on your license status and background. A second round typically involves a deeper conversation with a team lead or broker, often including a scenario question where you walk through how you would handle a specific transaction or client situation. Some firms add a final meeting with a senior partner before extending an offer.
Where can I find and apply to real estate jobs?
You can find and apply to real estate jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the United States. Search the listings to find roles that match your license level, specialization, and preferred location, then apply directly to each listing that fits.
