Who We Are
Imprint is building a platform that helps the world’s best brands grow the lifetime value of their customers. We started with co-branded credit cards and rebuilt them to be smarter, more rewarding, and brand-first. We partner with companies like Crate & Barrel, Rakuten, Booking.com, H-E-B, Fetch, and Shell to launch modern credit programs that deepen loyalty, unlock savings, and drive growth. But the card is just the beginning. We combine advanced payments infrastructure, intelligent underwriting, and deep customer data to predict what each customer will do next and act on it, so brands can offer powerful financial products without becoming a bank.
Co-branded cards alone account for over $300 billion in U.S. annual spend, and most still run on legacy bank rails. Imprint is the modern alternative: flexible, embeddable, and built for how people actually pay today. Backed by Kleiner Perkins, Thrive Capital, Ribbit, and Khosla Ventures, we’re building a world-class team to redefine how people pay and how brands grow. If you want to move fast, solve hard problems, and own real outcomes, we want to meet you.
The backend is core to this expansion: every transaction, every credit decision, and every rewards calculation runs on the financial infrastructure we build. At the Staff level, you'll provide both the technical and cultural leverage that helps the team and the systems scale together.
The Opportunity
Drive architecture and implementation of critical financial systems: from transaction authorization and ledger accounting, to credit decisioning, to rewards engines and payment processing. You write code, make design decisions, and own outcomes.
Shape net-new products from ideation through delivery: as Imprint expands into new financial products and a deeper rewards platform, you'll define technical approaches for systems that don't exist yet while evolving the ones that do.
Define foundational platform direction: set the technical vision for shared services, API infrastructure, and developer tooling that make the entire engineering team faster and more reliable.
Leverage AI across the stack: from prototyping to testing to production code, learning how to leverage AI tools is a core consideration for how we work.
Drive alignment across a wide cross-functional surface: product, design, infrastructure, compliance, solutions engineering, and brand partners. You bring engineering perspective into the room where decisions are made.
Raise the technical and cultural bar: mentor and sponsor engineers across the spectrum of seniority, foster psychological safety, and drive technical rigor in how the team designs, reviews, and ships.

You've architected and shipped systems that handle real money, real users, or real-time decisions, and you've made the teams around you better in the process
You operate fluidly across staff archetypes depending on context — tech lead, architect, solver — adapting your approach to what the team and problem need
You model the culture you want to see: psychological safety, intellectual honesty, and high standards for craft
You communicate clearly at every level, from pairing on implementation details to presenting technical strategy to leadership
Proficiency in Go (our primary backend language), or a similar language with willingness to ramp quickly
Experience ensuring data consistency and transactional integrity across distributed systems
Strong with relational databases: schema design, migrations, and query performance tuning
You drive technical alignment across product managers, business stakeholders, and engineers of all levels.
Experience using AI tools (code assistants, MCP servers, agentic workflows) to accelerate development, or genuine enthusiasm to adopt them
Startup experience a plus
We don't expect every candidate to match every bullet. If you're excited about what we're building and confident you can contribute, we'd love to talk.

Senior Level Back End Developer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a senior level back end developer job?
Employers hiring at the senior level look for engineers who can own systems end to end, not just implement tickets. Demonstrating that you have designed APIs, led migrations, set architectural standards, or mentored junior developers puts you ahead. Strong candidates show how their decisions improved reliability, reduced latency, or scaled a product, and can speak clearly about tradeoffs they made and why.
Which companies hire senior level back end developers?
Companies hiring senior level back end developers right now include Databricks, Citi, and GEICO, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a wide range of employers, including high-growth startups scaling their infrastructure, established enterprises modernizing legacy systems, and technology-forward companies building platform capabilities.
Are there remote senior level back end developer jobs?
Yes, remote availability is strong at this level. About 43% of senior level back end developer openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how many engineering organizations have built distributed teams around experienced back end engineers who can work autonomously and lead asynchronously across time zones.
What makes a back end developer role senior level?
Senior level back end developer roles are distinguished by scope, ownership, and influence. Engineers at this level are expected to design systems rather than just build features, make architectural decisions with long-term consequences, and set technical standards for the team. Mentoring mid-level and junior developers and participating in hiring or code review processes are also common expectations at the senior stage.
Which industries hire the most senior level back end developers?
Senior level back end developer roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Banking & Financial Services, and Investment & Asset Management, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive demand because they operate data-intensive, high-availability systems where experienced back end engineers are critical to scaling, security, and sustained product performance.
