Entry Level C Software Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level c software engineer job?
Employers hiring at the entry level look for demonstrated ability to write and debug C code, an understanding of memory management and pointers, and familiarity with data structures and algorithms. A portfolio of personal or academic projects, contributions to open-source C codebases, or internship experience building low-level or systems software gives candidates a clear edge over applicants with only coursework on their resume.
Which companies hire entry level c software engineers?
Companies hiring entry level c software engineers right now include SpaceX, GEICO, and Pentangle Tech Services | P5, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Hiring at this level covers embedded systems vendors, defense and aerospace contractors, operating systems teams at large technology companies, and hardware-adjacent startups that depend on C for performance-critical development.
Are there remote entry level c software engineer jobs?
Yes, though on-site and hybrid roles are common given the hardware and systems context of much C development. About 7% of entry level c software engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, so fully remote positions exist but candidates willing to work on-site will typically see a wider range of opportunities at this stage.
Are these new grad c software engineer jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior c software engineer roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, counts internships or academic projects toward that requirement, or explicitly accepts a strong portfolio in place of professional history. Searching for junior or new grad alongside the role title surfaces these openings most reliably.
Which industries hire the most entry level c software engineers?
Entry Level c software engineer roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Consulting & Professional Services, and Manufacturing, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Those sectors drive hiring at this level because C remains the dominant language for embedded firmware, operating system kernels, real-time control systems, and other environments where direct hardware access and predictable performance are non-negotiable requirements.
