Entry Level Senior Software Development Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level senior software development engineer job?
Employers hiring at the entry level look for candidates who can demonstrate real output: a GitHub portfolio, a capstone project, or internship experience that shows you can ship working code. Contributions to open-source projects, a strong grasp of data structures and algorithms, and familiarity with at least one major cloud platform all give candidates a clear edge when competing for these roles.
Which companies hire entry level senior software development engineers?
Companies hiring entry level senior software development engineers right now include Google, CVS Health, and Walmart, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a broad mix of employers, including fast-growing startups building out their engineering teams and established enterprises with structured new graduate programs.
Are there remote entry level senior software development engineer jobs?
Yes, though the mix varies by employer and team. About 32% of entry level senior software development engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with fully on-site roles still common among employers who prefer new engineers to learn directly alongside senior colleagues. Searching by location preference on Migrate Mate lets you filter to the work setting that fits your situation.
Are these new grad senior software development engineer jobs?
Yes. This page includes new grad, recent graduate, and junior senior software development engineer roles alongside other entry level postings. A posting is generally new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, counts internships or co-ops toward that threshold, or explicitly accepts a portfolio in place of professional history. Look for language like "new graduates encouraged to apply" or "internship experience considered" in the job description.
Which industries hire the most entry level senior software development engineers?
Entry Level senior software development engineer roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Artificial Intelligence, and Healthcare & Medical Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. These sectors tend to drive hiring at the entry level because they are either scaling engineering headcount rapidly or running formal new graduate programs that funnel junior engineers into structured onboarding tracks.
