Entry Level Senior Software Developer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level senior software developer job?
Employers hiring at the entry level look for candidates who can demonstrate working code, not just coursework. A GitHub portfolio with real projects, a completed internship, or a bootcamp capstone that solves a concrete problem gives you a competitive edge. Tailor your resume to the stack listed in each posting, and be ready to walk through your code decisions in a technical interview.
Which companies hire entry level senior software developers?
Companies hiring entry level senior software developers right now include Google, CVS Health, and Walmart, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. At this stage, hiring comes from a wide range of employers, including startups building out their first engineering teams, mid-size product companies, and larger enterprises with structured new grad programs.
Are there remote entry level senior software developer jobs?
Yes, though on-site and hybrid roles are also common at this level. About 31% of entry level senior software developer openings are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, so candidates who want flexibility have real options. Fully remote postings at the entry level tend to come from companies that already operate distributed engineering teams.
Are these new grad senior software developer jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, counts internships or personal projects toward that experience, or explicitly invites candidates without a prior full-time role. If you are coming straight out of school or a bootcamp, look for postings that list a portfolio or GitHub as a requirement rather than years on the job.
Which industries hire the most entry level senior software developers?
Entry Level senior software developer roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Artificial Intelligence, and Healthcare & Medical Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because they staff growing product and engineering teams that rely on junior developers to handle feature work, testing, and internal tooling alongside more experienced engineers.
