Entry Level CAD Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level cad engineer job?
Employers hiring entry level cad engineers look for proficiency in software like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or CATIA, a portfolio of completed drawings or student projects, and any internship or co-op experience you can show. Certifications from Autodesk or similar providers strengthen a new application, and tailoring your resume to highlight technical coursework and hands-on drafting practice gives you a clear edge at this stage.
Which companies hire entry level cad engineers?
Companies hiring entry level cad engineers right now include Apple, EFCO, and Google, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a broad range of employers, from large manufacturers and defense contractors to smaller engineering firms and product design studios that regularly bring on junior talent.
Are there remote entry level cad engineer jobs?
Yes, though most openings at this level are on-site or hybrid rather than fully remote. About 8% of entry level cad engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting that many employers prefer junior candidates to work alongside senior engineers during their first year to build skills faster.
Are these new grad cad engineer jobs?
Yes, this page includes new grad, recent graduate, and junior cad engineer roles alongside other entry level openings. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts internship or co-op work in place of full-time history, or invites candidates to submit a portfolio of academic or personal drafting projects rather than requiring a long professional resume.
Which industries hire the most entry level cad engineers?
Entry Level cad engineer roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Electronics & Hardware, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive consistent demand at the junior level because they depend on high volumes of detailed technical drawings, product designs, and engineering documentation that entry level candidates can contribute to from day one.
