Cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic (CVRM) diseases, including obesity, MASH and type 2 diabetes, are a major public health emergency, impacting roughly half of the US population, and imposing a tremendous burden on healthcare systems and society. Job Summary
The Therapeutic Area Analytics & Insights Senior Manager - CVRM in Digital, Data, and Analytics is a strategic advisor to key stakeholders and an integral contributor to Genentech’s Commercial, Medical, and Government Affairs (CMG). This individual is responsible for developing or supporting the delivery of actionable insights and strategic recommendations to inform timely and critical business decisions across therapeutic areas, ecosystems, and/or business domains. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders to understand business needs, conducting targeted analyses to uncover tailored insights, and synthesizing findings into strategic options aligned with organizational goals. Work will guide decisions that affect in-line, pipeline, and/or business development assets.
As an Individual Contributor, this individual is responsible for providing strategic recommendations with moderate guidance / supervision, leveraging their capabilities. The Senior Manager works flexibly within a matrix structure, sensing business priorities and reprioritizing work to meet organizational objectives. responsible for delivering tailored, high-impact insights that address complex business questions and align with Genentech’s strategic priorities.
The Senior Manager plays a critical role in integrating analytics products into workflows, promoting a product-first culture, and driving continuous improvement through best practice sharing and automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders to deeply understand business needs, key questions, and priorities, and ensure alignment with project objectives and analytic lead direction.
- Perform custom analyses by applying appropriate analytic techniques to address business challenges.
- Take an enterprise mindset, linking individual responsibilities with broader organization; focus on outcomes that provide most business and patient value.
- Contribute to continuous organizational improvement by sharing best practices, identifying opportunities for automation, and enhancing the efficiency and impact of analytics and insights workflows.
- Play an active role in the adoption of analytical products by staying up to date on the product roadmap, participating in training, user testing (as needed), and providing constructive feedback to ensure products are integrated into workflows. Embed and integrate products into workflows and foster SAI's product-first culture.
- Effectively interact with and guide offshore teams to ensure alignment with project objectives and maintain high-quality deliverables.
- Advise stakeholders to define clear, impactful business priorities, and develop action plans. Develop strategic options and recommendations by synthesizing findings, connecting insights across therapeutic areas, ecosystems, or analytic domains, and aligning them with organizational goals.
- Demonstrate proficiency in tailoring communication to specific audiences, communicating and influencing senior leaders and simplifying details for stakeholder buy-in
- Autonomously operate and manage all stakeholders (with limited manager guidance received through pro-active upward management.)
- Contribute to and/or lead the community of practice by facilitating discussions, mentoring peers, and fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and professional growth.
- Quickly adapt to evolving priorities by working flexibly one or more of these capabilities / expertise areas to address business needs and deliver impactful insights and analytics:
Market Research: Conduct qualitative and quantitative research with patients, caregivers, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders in the healthcare ecosystem to assess and improve the patient experience.
Forecasting: Generate revenue and supply forecasts, perform uncertainty analyses, and provide actionable insights to inform strategic business decisions.
Competitive Intelligence: Monitor and track the competitive landscape, assess competitive threats, and gather intelligence from key national and regional medical conferences to inform strategy and positioning.
Data Analytics: Analyze secondary and structured datasets to surface actionable insights that benefit customers and patients.
Access: Apply expertise in managed care to assess the impact of payer management, coverage, coding, pricing, contracting, and other reimbursement drivers, and work to remove barriers to Genentech therapies while improving the overall customer experience.
Digital Measurement: Design and conduct digital analytics and performance measurement to generate insights that inform strategy.
- Comply with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Genentech activities.
Who You Are
Minimum Candidate Qualifications & Experience
- 5 years of relevant work experience (or equivalent with advanced education)
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Experience synthesizing concise summaries focused on the key insights that inform business decisions.
- Demonstrated experience supporting pipeline and business development (BD) strategy through analytics-driven asset assessments, portfolio prioritization, and strategic decision support.
- Comfortable dealing with uncertainty in a highly-matrixed organization.
- Strong results orientation and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
- Persuasive written and verbal communication skills.
Additional Desired Candidate Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Statistics, Life Sciences, Mathematics, Computer or Physical Sciences or related field.
- MBA or Graduate-level Degree.
- Proven track record of leadership, time-management, project management, and teamwork.
- Experience in the Cardiovascular, Renal, and Metabolic (CVRM) therapeutic area.
- Deep cross-functional insights & analytics experience. Demonstrated experience in each of these domains with a proven ability to flex when needed:
Market Research - Expertise in designing and fielding qualitative and quantitative primary market research plans. Proficiency in understanding market landscape and surfacing insights across multiple primary data sources.
Competitive Intelligence - Competitive intelligence experience. Exposure to pharmaceutical product development and/or commercialization.
Forecasting - Experience with revenue forecasting, including patient-flow methods, statistical methods, and uncertainty analysis. Experience building and improving forecasting models.
Data Analytics - Experience working with analytical tools is required (e.g., Python, R, and SQL). Working knowledge of secondary data sources including syndicated sales, promotional and marketing data, longitudinal patient level data; experience with payer data is preferred. Experience with statistical modeling, analysis, and presentation of results to a non-technical audience.
Digital Measurement - Able to design and conduct digital analytics / measurements.
Access - Experience solving access issues across a wide range of products, therapeutic areas, and challenges, with limited guidance, insights, or resources. In-depth understanding of US payers and their perspective in the markets and trends in pricing and reimbursement. Experience designing and conducting primary market research with payers and other formulary decision makers, MDs, and practice managers is preferred.
- Proficiency in exploring large amounts of data, identifying important insights and building compelling narratives.
- Proficiency in understanding market landscape and surfacing insights across multiple primary data sources.
This position is based in South San Francisco, CA and relocation benefits are not available.
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is $153,600 - $285,200 USD Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
