Entry Level Civil Project Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level civil project engineer job?
Focus on internship experience, senior capstone projects, or any field work that shows you can apply engineering principles on a real site. Employers at this level look for familiarity with AutoCAD or Civil 3D, a basic grasp of project scheduling, and the ability to read construction documents. Tailoring your resume to each posting and highlighting relevant coursework strengthens your application when your professional experience is still limited.
Which companies hire entry level civil project engineers?
Companies hiring entry level civil project engineers right now include Westwood Professional Services, Kimley-Horn, and The Mannik & Smith Group, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. At this level, hiring covers large engineering and construction firms, regional infrastructure contractors, and public-sector agencies that routinely bring on recent graduates for project support and field roles.
Are there remote entry level civil project engineer jobs?
Yes, though most civil project engineer roles at this level require some on-site presence. About 15% of entry level civil project engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions tend to involve design, documentation, or project coordination tasks rather than field construction supervision.

A new grad friendly posting typically welcomes zero to two years of experience and treats internships, co-ops, or a strong academic portfolio as qualifying credentials. Look for postings that list a bachelor's degree as the primary requirement without demanding years of independent project management.
